2017 XRS Round 4 @ Whalan (OCT 7-8)
Good evening all. We are happy to announce that we will be hosting round 4 of the Xray Race Series at Whalan, we hope you can all join us for one of the best events at a fantastic facility. We will be running race days for you to get some practice in leading up to the event. We are not changing the dates being the 7th and 8th of October so your calendar isn't affected. Hope to see you there 😉

Hi All,
Unfortunately I will not be down at the track today. It is a public track so you are more than welcome to throw laps.
Some others may likely be there getting some practice for XRS Round 4, however I feel a lot of people are eagerly leaving it for tomorrow when we have our race day! Rough time schedule is as normal:
1) we will be setting up from 8-9am
2) open track from 9-10 for practice
3) 10-10:15am drivers meeting
4) start racing 10:30am
5) finish hopefully by 3pm
6) open track with timing 3pm
Thanks and see you tomorrow!

What a weekend of racing!
Thank you to all that attended XRS Round 4 at WMCC. Thank you also to those who helped make this happen, especially XRAY & HEI for allowing WMCC to host this round (despite the late notice); Dean, John Mackie & Matt Oxford for putting aside his whole weekend to help run the day (despite not racing themselves) as well as Erin & Eileen for the help around race control and scrutineering. Also huge thanks to Tony Smith and Kane Alderton for spraying the track!
HUGE congratulations to the Junior drivers, they really showed us old fellas how to race competitively and considerately to other racers.
Thank you to the guys and girls that came from long and far (Orange - Andrew/Newcastle - Calvin/Greg/Brendan/South Hurstville - Nathan ).
I personally apologise for the minor issues we had with the timing equipment and setup - running live timing for the first time meant some things were not setup correctly. This also means that some final standing have changed from what was announced yesterday due to a correction in tie break rules. Now that it is working and setup correctly, we are proud to now have live timing at WMCC permanently on all club days and events in the future (thanks to the recommendations of Ed/Nathan).
Please see the attached final placings and congratulations to all that competed.

Was also great to see races still run when there was a light drizzle of rain, and a slightly damp track, other events may have just called it off, but thanks to all the guys and girls for pushing through the last round of finals.
Was a great event overall and would love to see more events like this at Whalan in the future!

Hi, Is this track still open? I looked on facebook but the last post was from 2015? https://www.facebook.com/GWSRCCC/
I'm considering to start racing for the first time soon. (I've only ever casually bashed for off-road the last 25 years)... Even though I'm an "adult", the concept still seems a bit intimidating... Especially considering the faster pace of on-road.
So I think I should get some practice in by myself first.
I see you had a race meet yesterday? How often do you guys host race meets? I'm in Quakers Hill, so it's a little bit of a drive. It'd be a shame to accidentally rock up on race day unprepared.
Where is the best place to get the latest news? Website? Twitter? Is the track open for practice on other days or is it private property?
Once I get some practice in, are there anything I should do to my car/radio setup? All of my equipment is very old - 40MHz radio and brushed motors (no stock motors or silver cans either - however I do have 27T silver can armatures I could use) I do have 2 brushless esc/motors, but they're WAAAY too quick for me. 3.5T and 4.5T are just too insane!
Any advice on who to talk to etc?
Thanks.

That seems to be the old facebook from the previous club. Here is the new one WMCC FACEBOOK LINK.
The track is totally open for practice outside of our race/practice days. We race twice a month - on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month (yesterday being one of them).
I recommend a baseline chassis that is supported locally, normally Yokomo/Awesomatix/XRAY/Mugen/VBC etc are the top brands at the moment with onroad 1/10 touring electric cars (this is mostly what we run). This helps in the fact that if you break something, we all help each other out with spare parts/cars etc. Also we can help each other on setup advice etc. Also, most radios are now 2.4ghz which allows for a more versatile communication protocol between transmitter/receiver. Most current radios will be 2.4ghz as well as RTR kits having this as a base technology.
I would best suggest you come along to our next practice or race meet (normally we are there every Sunday for practice). You are more than welcome to call me direct to discuss (ill PM you my mobile number).
Great news for you is that novice/juniors are free which includes new comers to onroad to get used to the race format/day. We are very casual and welcoming of new people to this hobby, so please come along and we will help where we can!
Hopefully see you at the track soon!
Kind Regards,
JP
