I was wondering what people were considered as the best RC drivers in Australia. It can be from any type of racing.

No love for Ray Munday?
Matt Kellet and Russell Grenenger are handy steerers too.

Ive been lucky enough to race against some of the best drivers over the past 20 years, mainly in EP offroad. Its impossible to compare eras / classes, but here are the guys who have consistently been tough to beat:
Last 10 years:
Matt Griffin
Ari Bakla
Craig Laughton
Josh Pain
Andrew Gillot
90s / early 2000s:
Darrin Campbell
Trent McLure
David Crowe
Reece Birtles
There are obviously a few drivers who have shown their class on the world stage, such as Kyle McBride, The Jovanovic brothers, Phil Woodbury.
Ric Bartolozzi would have to be someone who has been at the pointy end of some class or other for longer than anyone else!
I havent raced as much on road but Ryan Maker and Simon Nicholson have been at the front of this class for a while and have both been tough competitors in off-road as well.
Yep, it would be awesome to have an R/C Race of Champions style event with multi-discipline racing!

Top ten all time or just now?
I think we've had a few of these threads, welcome to the 2015 version.
All of the guys mentioned are great and some of the current guys have achieved a level of success on the world stage that no other aussie's have before but does it make them the greatest? In some eyes I guess it would.
As Ray said it's hard to compare era's and different scales, EP/GP, on and off-road. It was great to see him mention some names from slightly earlier years of R/C though, because if you read some of the earlier names put forward you'd think R/C started maybe not too long ago. (Personally I've been involved since 83-84)
For me if you’re looking all time you have to go for someone who has excelled in not just one R/C field and not just in local/interstate/National/World racing in recent times but over a prolonged period. Personally I’ll pick one name, trying to make a list just makes it a popularity contest where you nominate everyone.
Ric Bartolozzi (THE Bartman) for me is simply the best Australia has seen.
Raced since Mr Tamiya first dreamed of making an R/C car (wouldn't be surprised if he helped him design it), raced and won just about every scale or class ever invented, most at least twice (is the current 1/8th ON-Road National Champion I believe, the F1 of R/C), raced at every level of racing there is and competitive too (semi's at World level).
Pretty hard to beat that resume!

I feel extremely privledged to be even considered as top ten in Australia.
As an on-road racer i would say Stewert Grant and Michael Kerr, not just there driving ability but what they gave to the sport.
I would also agree with craig the Old Bartman is past, present and future weapon.

Yep, I'd put Ric on the list too for present and past racers.
