You had the track on the Bayside at Lota, then the one at Ekibin park almost under the Freeway. There was a great track in the early 90's at Mount Gravatt Showgrounds, and when Ekibin closed it moved to Hawthorne, which saw some huge numbers at racedays, and a big audience too due to the location.
Unfortunately most of these places where eventually taken back by councils who then weren't too keen on providing any assistance to relocate. Weeks after the 94 QLD Titles, Hawthorne track was demolished. Mt Gravatt track was reclaimed too, and the core of that club went to Jimboomba - hosted the 95 Nationals, then it too was demolished years later, for a skate bowl.

That's quite a few 1/10 offroad tracks Brisbane had.
Shame the councils didn't support them. Its not as if many individuals have the money to buy a plot of land in an industrial area and build and maintain an outdoor track.
I suspect Boondall will get a bit busier now as guys test, tune and practice with their 1/10. Its the only 1/10 dirt track in Brisbane at the moment. (That im aware of).
Well be down there in the near future to have a go.
Be interesting to know what hours this new track will be open. It may only be open on race-days.

It's good to hear that an electric off road facility will soon be up and going. It's been a long time since the Jinker Track raced 1/10th Buggy and Truck. I remember those days but I wasn't racing back then.
I for one am already getting my stuff together in anticipation to run 1/10th 4wd buggy. I haste always wanted to run 4wd and it looks like dream will come to true soon. Keep up the good work guys.

Had a chat with the guy at Lakeside last week. Plans are for low key no pros racing. No lap counters or timing system. The track looks great...grass at the moment but that won't last long. No big jumps. Got a couple buggies and trucks myself...prolly come for a play...if I can walk. Lots of interest among my crew. The Boondall Vintage guys will prolly turn up too.

The track at Boondall Entertainment Centre was built for the club I used to race with back in the day. I was racing a much modified Frog in those days. Great to see the track still going.
