Default Stripped screws How to get out

Hi Guys,

Need some assistance.
I have a Associated B.4 that has stripped the front wheel screws, they are about 1mm allen key screws.

Is it best to use a dremil and cut a slot or is there a better way.

Cheers

try going up to the next size allen key, or the imperial equivalent, if not, yep cut a slot and use a flat head screw driver to remove it

Hi mate don't know the model but my first associated models were all imperial screws ... Here's some facts 1 mm = .039 thousands of an inch , .050 thou is a regular size Allen key used by modellers so I seem to think this might of been the size your looking for like I said could be wrong I don't know this model the other imperial size commonly used are .062 , .078 , .093 And yea if you can't get it slot it .... Some other facts are average human hair is .004 thou or .01 mm so the difference between a 1mm Allen key and a .050 is 2 1/2 hairs normally if working on cars and a 1.5 mm Allen key is too big I allways grab my .050 thou is my next selection of tools and worth having in the kit of tools ....

I had a stripped countersunk screw in my 008, bought a set of these $6.50 Bunnings screw remover

Drilled a shallow hole in the head of the screw using a drill press and a 2.5mm bit. Used the 3mm remover bit, screwed it into the hole counterclockwise using pliers, and the screw came out cleanly and easily. Can't rave about these enough, never using the dremel again

check out the end of your hex key they do wear the edge off over time, if you have a bench grinder or dremel just grind the end a little bit to get back to a good hex if you leave the small burr on there it may be enough to get the screw out. its worked for me in the past.

I've had some success with stripped socket head screws using a torx bit of similar size as the allen key. They may need a slight tap with a hammer to get them all the way in.

A spring loaded pin punch if you have countersunk screws
