Well ive had an r40 good car high on the wear factor gears belts etc but most importantly the lack of parts unless your going to shop overseas bypass this car go for a serpent 710 Idid! excellent parts backup and same day shipping in most cases give the guys at hobbytown a call 98963277 or call darrin at custom model on 95794007 bypass the kyosho rrr for the same reason as the r40 parts supply hope ive helped.

Isnt the 710 abit on the fragile side?

But yer i would get a 710 or RRR seeing as they were the only to cars in the top 10 in the worlds.

I have a 2004 edition R40 and it is as fast as any car out there. I do quite well with it, as good as my skills can perform anyway, which is not that great

Parts support is fine in OZ, there is mrcmodelcarparts.com.au and also frontline hobbies is now the importer for HPI parts. Also getting parts from HK from Jet Hobby is easy as pie and very reliable. Dont be scared to get this car.

i've helped a mate tweak and set up a r40 and found the rear droop screws hard to access. just a thought. when you buy a car you want it to be easy to tune and access all areas..

looks like a good car. but i thinkthere might be better ones out on the market now.

Have not heard much about the Sirio engine but obviously it has the goods.

From what i have seen with my mates R40 it is a quick car and looks nice to drive. Also saw a little of the MTX-3 looks quick also but a little harder to drive just not sure which to buy. Dont like Kyosho sorry

Cheers Daniel

Just for the droop screws it is no good?

Anyway the stiff arm set moves the screws forwards to a better position where they are easy to access.

Mugen and HPI factory teams not there. These results are impressive but meaningless as to what car to buy.

Ok then i also said the mugen was a great car too!

All ive seen from an r40 is problems (well the only r40 ive ever seen) it was my m8s and since he has sold it and bought a mugen, his lap times have improved greatly and the car is much easier to work on.

LOL yeah must have been the car. I owned 1 for a year and have not have had any problems you dont normally get with any car.

Let me see change a diff in a mugen, upset the suspension and takes what 15-20 minutes? Change diff in R40 takes 3-5 minutes. Tank out in 10 seconds. Radio plate in 1 minute. Battery in 30 seconds. Its not hard to work on.
