St Ives Off Road NSW
Saw Knox have a thread now so thought St Ives should have one too
If anyone is looking for somewhere to race this weekend St Ives will be running on Sunday. Normal race days are first and third Sundays of each month. We are located in the St Ives Showground, Mona Vale Road, St Ives.
Registration is from about 9.30am and we try for a 10.30am start. You get 3 heats and 3 finals and we also have a 15 minute break between rounds. This is primarily to let electric have enough time to charge but the track is open for practice so it also means you can try out any changes before the next heat/final. Should be packed up and on your way home by around 4pm.
Our normal classes are novice, 2wd stock, 2wd mod and gas truck.
If we get enough 4wd stock or mod we will give them their own class but otherwise they just run with the 2wd's. 240V power is available and we have transponders (no personals though sorry).
Best tyres in 2wd are X-2000 red if the track has been swept or big shot red and proline LP Holeshots if there is some loose stuff (At least they are the ones I prefer).
If you are a member of an affiliated club we only charge you member rates to race which I think is $7. Non affiliated visitors are $10.
Hope to see a lot of new faces on Sunday.
Chris

On Road
What's the update on the proposed On Road track, for St Ives Club?
#3
Last I heard we were waiting on the power to be installed by the council. There was a shakedown meeting planned for some time in December, which may not go ahead if power isn't ready. Regular racing is scheduled to commence from January 2006.

Track Location
What is the location of the new on road track, and what day or nights are you proposing to run the on road?
#5
It will be a temporary track in the car park at Nth Narrabeen Reserve. Track will be marked out with fire hose and plough discs as per the St Ives indoor track of old. We have a drivers stand similar to that being used at Eastern Creek and the council is currently installing 3 phase power and will be constructing a power board for us with I think 15 outlets can't remember the exact number we settled on.
Racing will be on second and fourth Sundays but at this stage there are a few second Sundays early in the year that we won't be able to get due to a clash with baseball. The exact dates are still to be confirmed though, when they are we will distribute a calendar for 2006.
We are also planning a shakedown run for December 11 05 just to finalise track layout and stand position etc. All are welcome to attend but at this stage we can't guarantee there will be power and it isn't intended to be a proper race meeting. So if you are interested in checking out the surface and having some input to track layout come along, if you are looking for a well run fun day of racing probably better to wait until our first official meeting at the end of January. Either way we hope to see you all at the new St Ives on road track soon.

This race meeting (Sunday 4.12) we will be running a 1 hour enduro with teams of three drivers. The teams will be selected by race control so as to make it more even.
We will then run a shortened race meeting in the afternoon. Two rounds, with finals.
We would like to start the enduro at 10.30, so if you are not registered by 9.30am you will not be able to run in the enduro.
We will hold the Club Point Score Presentation after the enduro, have a lunch break (the usual sausage sizzle) and then go through to afternoons racing.
See you there.

At this stage we plan to run Novice (run what you bring, as long as it is 1/10th), Electric 1/10th touring cars stock and modified, Gas 1/10th touring cars bump start and pull start, pull start engines must be side exhaust. You are welcome to run rear exhaust pull start engines, you will just have to enter the bump start class.
If there are numbers to justify adding other classes then we can add them as required. Scales larger than 1/10th will not be run though due to track size and insurance restrictions. Track surface area should be similar to Eastern Creek.

As far as I know the classes listed earlier will be the standard classes, if we get 4 or more people wanting to run a different class then we would add a class as required but only for 4 or more. Multiple classes with only a few entries would limit the number of rounds we could get through in a day.
The practice meeting for on road went reasonably well but we have a few things to sort out, as a result first meeting for 06 has been pushed back to second Sunday in Feb (12th)

The St Ives off road track is open to the public. It is situated opposite the Rider training school, Mona Vale Road, St. Ives, in the St Ives showground.
While people are welcome to use the track, the Council has put a 'Blanket ban' on all nitro powered cars, excluding Club race days. There are signs to this effect at the track, placed there by council.
This is enforced by council rangers and Security staff.
We will be back racing on the 3rd Sunday in January, 2006 and all are welcome.
Thanks,
Tony.

OFF ROAD
Just a reminder to all you Off Roaders......
We are back on track Sunday 15th January and look forward to seeing everyone.
Point score will start in February. We are hoping to start a Mini T Class.
The track has had a few alterations and should be looking good.
Selections for Club Challenge have been made. We are waiting for final confirmation of dates.
See you Sunday.

Our next Off Rd meeting is on 5th February, 2006.
This will be the start of the Club Point Score.
Remember, if you come to race on the 1st Sunday of each month, let the people at the gate know that you are there for the race meet otherwise you incur a parking fee.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.
