im not sure the hobby can sustain another class... but if the arguement is for it to be a stepping stone to mod wouldnt it be better to have adjustable timing to further prepare drivers for mod?

True that!

If 19T does become a class does this mean Stock is out?

I believe 19T should be run to ROAR rules. I know this means fixed timing, but in Australia it seems that we follow what they do, albeit a bit behind.

Here is the link to the ROAR Rules:
http://www.roarracing.com/rules/pdfs/2004rules.pdf

Note that adjustable timing motors are only used for oval racing in the States, something that we don't do here.

most over seas hobby shopes stock them and i know cmc in syndey stock some.

i run the epic outlaw 19t (its a bullet) but if they do introduce the rules about the fixed timing don't get it. i have also heard that the new team orion 19t is good to. i don't know its name i'm sure someone else will though.

thanx for that murfy ..

i think i'll get a motor that has fixed timing ... just in case there the rule is introduced ..

if not ... guess it's a good reason to further improve my skills and try not to rely on speed ...

on the team orion motor .. does anybody have the link?? i could not find it ..

thanx

i'm not sure but i think that the team orion motor is probably still a prototype. so from what i have heard the reedy is the next best. but the charmelion is still as fast.

If you guys end up running fixed timing motors.....

I will have stock of EA Tuned Trinity Chameleon 2 motors in early January if anyone's chasing a motor. C2's have fixed 24 degree timing, and are machine wound.

Manufacturer details : http://www.teamtrinity.com/motors/19turn.asp

Tuning details : http://eamotorsports.360k.com/ea_home.html

PreOrdering details : http://www.harrisrc.com/shop.htm

We (well, the club...) are running this class (19 turn fixed timing) at Brendale in Brisbane from next year. Should be fantastic I think. The current plan is to restrict motors to those on the BRCA approved list - check the England Park thread for details and a link to that.

Personally I don't overly care if it's fixed timing and approved motors or not, athough if I had to make a choice it would probably be for fixed timing - as someone said, to make it a cheap(er) class. In my humble opinion we need to make racing cheaper if we can.

Whatever happens, I just want all of Australia to run the same rules...

The decision depends whether you want 19t to be a "fast stock" class, or a "slow mod" class I guess. At least that's the way I think of it.

I think that having a 19T class is a good move, it gives people a chance to step up to a faster class without the expense of having to go to Mod where how much you spend determines how competitive you are. We starting a 19T class Feb next year in Adelaide when we get our new indoor carpet track up and running, and I am really looking forward to it. At this stage it looks like we will be running as per the ROAR rules which states fixed timing. Hopefully it will be some good racing.

If you don't go for fixed timing it will go down the track of the old Group 20 class - timing from hell...new brushes and retrues every race. This killed G20 racing

Can't rely see any probs running fixed/adjustable timing, Run what ya want, They had either motors at Templestowe peter stevens M/cycle masters19 turn seniors, As you know G20 is dying (in Vic anyway) There was only 3-4 guys running it at the last Vic's offroad, G20 is a rip off class anyway with limited motors around, Bring on 19T spec for Seniors (Offroad) atleast you can pick up the motor at most LHS

not that much difference between fixed and variable timing motors any way.
I found that having adjustable timing I could actually turn it back a couple of degrees to smooth it out with out loosing top end that we tried to achieve
