Are you wanting to race at sanctioned events such as state titles, club series etc? You will need Roar approved packs if you do. If not any hardcase lipo will do the job. What class will you being running?

Any advantage or disadvantage of having a Hard case? What is the purpose?

Hardcase lipo is a requirement for car racing, 99% of clubs require any one competing must run hardcase lipo battery's. It more a safety aspect than anything else.

LOL I was like that when i 1st started RC Racing. Had so many questions to ask.

Most of the ROAR Approved LiPo batteries out there are pretty good. Get something that's 40c or over. I personally use all Fantom products and none of them have ever failed on me.
Here's a link to some good batteries.

Cheers
