Well
I just checked my Visa account and the order that was supposed to cost AU$485 according to www.xe.com has been charged to my card as AU$502

This does not make me happy in the slightest.

Especially cos it will probably go thru cusoms now and get delayed, and get GST added to it!!!!

azensis if im not mistaken the exchange rate you see on ww.xe.com is the interbank rate. This is the exchange rate that banks use to trade millions/billions of dollars between eachother. The rate we get usually has a larger spread.

Cheers,

It is reasonably accurate it is only out by 3.5% in your case. IT may have also been that the tranaction was delayed for a short period of time and exchange rates moved against you. It may also take into account bank fees? Im unaware of a place that supplies account exchange rates. You will recieve a rate between interbank and retail rates. Hope this helps but I doubt it. Ive even confused myself.

Cheers,

Mossie

Most banks charge extra when converting between currencies as far as i know.. I guess and extra $30 is about right. Contact the bank for clarification perhaps.

The universal currency converter on the Towerhobbies website is pretty accurate. I always use it before I buy. Its the only reason I ever go to the Tower site For US orders Stormer all the way.

Where is their currency converter? Only ever noticed the shipping estimator thingo?

What makes stormer better? Are they cheaper? Do they have discount coupons? Is the freight cheaper? Faster?
