Might be worth checking out later except the people that are running Gold Coast are also involved in or running the Northern Rivers Offroad Titles (last weekend in April ) and the Tamworth event ( last weekend in May ). It's all very complex. The original plan was to run on the 3rd or last Sunday every month.
One thing is certain - the track is too good to allow it to be lost to us forever even if it is only EP that can race there.
Steve - maybe we should think about having a class for 2wd Short Course Trucks (running offroad tyres of course) just to build up the numbers - they are a lot of fun on the tarmac.

I know that I'm dreaming, but one thing that I would like to see is a membership drive with all the clubs together with the retailers.
Kindest regards,
Lars.

Trying to get organised to run on the 10th with you guys....
What tires work out there? Sorex 36's with b/c medium inserts?
I also noticed you finished finals by 12.30 which helps me get a permission slip... So is it likely the next meeting will finish around the same time?
AND... What times were the mod guys doing? Which direction around the track and... What parts of the track were not used?
I'm a serial pest. Just want to be prepared if I head out for a race meeting!!!
One more, any decent hobby shops near by that would stock decent tires?

Im not on here to stur but the facts are:
As i recall last year Logan was talking about going to run at the gold coast evey 1 or 2 months to keep the track alive.
As for clashing with logan since when has saturday become sunday?
There has been too many people leaving the sport on the GC so we run the sundays that fit in with our track at lismore Off road.
Yes it is unfortunate the some days do clash and there is not much we can do about that at the moment.

Race Dates
Steve well done on trying to get the gc track going again, the day went well.As 4 race dates the same weekend as meakin might work well 4 the time being discounting interclubs and events of course. The more tracks the better imo, people can race where they choose but the gc gets my vote every time we have a run there, cheers Scott

Thanks Shane; I believe that it could possibly work, but it's up to the club. I know that it looks like I'm trying to put restrictions on a new club that needs all help that it can get. That's far from my intentions; somehow I just wish that we could avoid meetings with so few participants, that the clubs eventually die from lack of interest. A too crowded calendar will only work unfortunately if there is bigger participation, but club members probably want the clubs to race at least once a fortnight.

It would be nice if those people who have concerns about the gold coast track as you and shane do through the posts on this forum to give me a ring and have a talk about dates , but as i can see although my mobile number is on the 1st post you must have not noticed it.
Promotion is the Key to having strong clubs in SEQ but thats not up to me as i live 2hrs away and we have our own club to promote in our area.

You are dead right about the GC track it is too good to let fade away. Numbers might have been small but you have to crawl before you walk.
As for the SC trucks its a great idear, they are great to watch going around the GC track and lots of fun for the guys who steer them.See if we can round a few up for the 10th.

My preference would actually be to discuss matters like this in an open forum; where everyone that has a good idea or a view can have a say, and I never intended to call you before you asked.
Kindest regards,

Trying to get organised to run on the 10th with you guys....
What tires work out there? Sorex 36's with b/c medium inserts?
Sorex 36R with C medium inserts or the Schuie premounts (which have a yellow insert) will work just fine. I know that most of the guys used or are using Sorex 36R tires - except for me. I am using the Sweep EXP 36 Premounts - have been using them for over a year now. They are much cheaper and last longer than Sorex, but the performance is not the same. Sorex are approx. 0.3-0.5 sec lap faster.
I also noticed you finished finals by 12.30 which helps me get a permission slip... So is it likely the next meeting will finish around the same time?
Depends on numbers - we had 1 heat each of 540, stock and mod - obviously, if the number pick up (and we hope they do), the finish time will be later. But we did run 3 heats and 2 finals (at a nice leisurely pace)
AND... What times were the mod guys doing? Which direction around the track and... What parts of the track were not used?
Ran short track for all classes. Think Corey B had the fastest times around 17.5sec laps/ 17laps 5:05 approx.

And next race meet, we could even have an international superstar (fly in) racer grace us with his presence!!!! hint.......He's an old Ranga!!!!!

No worries I'll ring you, but not tonight; I have heaps of other calls to make. I'm afraid that I really don't have a solution to this however; and I hope that my call will not disappoint you.

Dropped in on the weekend for a look. It was great to see the track being used again after the huge effort that was put in to create it in the first place.
I have seen the SC trucks run on the track for fun and there was a small discussion of creating a rally cross for them with some small timber jumbs and running 1/8 onroad buggy tires.
There is a big number of over 40 SC trucks that run at RC Hobbies Gold Coast every week so getting some to try and run on the onroad track mightn't be as hard as you think.
It would be something different anyway
I'd love to see the track used all the time after all the effort by so many in the past.
just a thought
