just go a dx3s about $250 or go right to the top and get a 4pk about $500

Another cheap option of high quality is the Sanwa MX3X .. has all the features and shares the M11X receivers .. and most probably around $200.

Ane versatile ... it can 4 different style of transmittter packs ... 4 loose cell, 6 loose cell, Lipo or Life ... it doesn't care

I was going to suggest this!

I just bought an MX-3X too. I have the M11X, and needed another receiver, it was only $30 more then buying a Receiver alone, and I gave the radio to a family member.

Doesn't have the amount of features the M11X has, but has what is needed.

*Edit* Just received my MX-3X. Whilst it feels like any other budget radio, it actually feels really good in the hand. Wheel has a nice amount of tension, trigger however doesn't - They are both adjustable, so can be adjusted to suit, and will be. Menu is extremely easy to navigate. Could have done with a back light though.

are some of the higher end products over the top for ep tourer, ie would you use or need some of the functions, not trying to be a cheapskate, just want to make sure I will buy the right model for the job

I would say yes they are over the top for any RC vehicles.
I use a Sanwa M11x and i don't even come close to using all the functions.
I think the cheaper sanwa or dx3s aswell as the futaba are the better options.
But then this is only my opinion someone else may not agree.

I like my DX3S, and it was cheap really, the Spektrum stuff (subjective to models) is lacking a bit in build quality, but the nice big easy to read screen plus it weighs nothing, feels good in your hand, so yeah it's nice.

The tuning on it is not grand though, it's beaten for many features, which means at some point I want a DX3R myself, but you get spoilt on the super light weight and small frame, everything else feels oversized and overweight to me now.

I also don't use all the functions the M11X has, but I feel I'm better to have it there incase I ever do.

One thing that I can't wait to use, is the channel mixing & variable EPA's between the mixing, something I've never had in any of my KO radio's (EX-1, EX-10 & EX-1 UR) - This will allow me to adjust the brake bias on my 1/5th between the F & R via the radio.

OT: Another option is the Futaba 4PL 2.4g - It looks like a decent bit of kit, has all the features you'd ever need, and its priced on par with the Spektrums.

I forgot about that new 4PL, probably cause Futaba still don't have it on their site, but I know it's been out a short while now.

In terms of features it looks aimed at gaining back the market Futaba lost with the new Spektrum models, it looks a simular size, with 4AA so I'm assuming much lighter weight, and I think it's spec is between a DX3S/R for S type money.

Only catch is I don't know of anyone who has used one yet, and from what I have seen Futaba don't have any real micro receivers just yet in 2.4?.

Still, I'd consider buying one if I was out for a new radio, hell remembering I saw it a couple of weeks back I'd consider buying one rather than a DX3R if I knew more about the features etc, but then I have like 3+ spektrum receivers now, so it's hard to change.

i just bought a new KO Euros, upgrading from the DX3R. I am hoping the KO will be a little bit sharper and more accurate as compared to the Spectrum.

We will see

Yeah I'm thinking about the 4PL too. Wouldn't mind some feedback on it also!

Sorry don't mean to hijack your thread.
