Jaybo,

CMC is the Custom Model Cars HQ.
Wicked off road indoor clay track.

Is see your point Andrew, but there is no use having one if people aren't attending race meets now else were.

I know your keen but, for viability it will be a very costly venture for the person signing the checks.

Catering for hard core racers, is a task that is going to be quite hard, due to there ever changing demands.

I had a look around here in Albury/Wodonga for a place to build up a decent carpet on road track, and the cost of carpet alone was almost $8,000 for a good long wear carpet.
Then the rest of the setup costs, doing most of the work my self, wouldn't leave me with much change out of 20g.

Melbourne of course is much bigger, and there are many more people with RC cars, but no where near as many racers as there was years ago.

I feel it's due to the amount of choices the average RC car user has to choose from.

1/24th,1/18th, 1/10th, 1/8th, 1/6th, and 1/5th, on and off road.

I wish the check signer all the luck in this effort, but do your research.

Good luck.

Hey,

It's called the RC MadHouse, www.rcmadhouse.com
It will have 3 indoor tracks:
on-road 1/10th electric
on-road gas
off-road 1/10 electric and 1/8th gas

Its also going to have a slow flying room for helicopters and gliders, and a cafe, and some video games.
They are currently negociating rent in a 1200sqm 4 walls and a floor factory in bays water, its out in the east!

well if this happens, its up to the racer to support it and keep it alive, too many times awesome things like this happen, and then fold due to lack of support.

good luck to them

who is behind this project?

obviously someone with a $hitload of cash

OldSchool:

Yeah it would be pretty awesome to have sat night racing, or friday night. Yeah dad (joe) and i have enquired into the MadHouse and are still interested in investing.

----------------------------------------------------------

Matt:

Yeah i know where you are coming from, i think if there are enough people out there promoting the MadHouse it could be one of the biggest RC venues in Vic. Another thing i taked about to the owners was not stepping on the toes of other clubs. Having a hobby shop that fully supports the racers is important too

Hey are you coming racing this weekend a Keilor, Jeff and i were there today, the track is awesome, it's still holding up.

Thumbs up

Thinking about it, one way to possibly make it viable is to have a hire track also...

Get a bunch of TL01's, hard tamiya tires, and rent them out to kids for $10 or $15 / hour during the day and when the track is quiet, or build a small track for kids to get a taste of it, even with mini-t's perhaps. Build the track in such a way that damage is minimised (racers will thank you for that too..). You get the idea.

There used to be a slotcar raceway near me that did that, and there was always kids there, and the place was around for years. Redline raceway it was called.

(on that note, faaaaar out those things were quick! not sure of the track length, but the fast ones were lapping in around 1.2 seconds!)
