The Great (Insurance) Debate
Our Club Townsville Model Off Road Club Inc. paid $200 this year for our 3rd Party Public Liability Insurance. We are covered for 10Mil, by a policy that is organised by ORRCA Qld, I think thru Suncorp. As our share was $200 and there were 11 affiliated clubs the total bill to ORRCA would be $2,200. The club is covered for 3rd Party claims arising from any official club event, at our Offroad track, Onroad track or public displays at school fete's and the like.
We are also the only ORRCA Qld club to be an Incorporated body. For a donation of $39 per Year to Dept of Fair Trading and Recreation some extra paperwork and a $330 auditor's fee it shure helps our committee members to sleep better at night knowing that if someone was to sue our committee or members for whatever, the most that we as individuals would be liable for is our $25 Club membership fee. Remember there is safety in numbers so affiliate with your state organisation and pressure them to make a joint professional approach to Government or Insurance companies to hook up with reasonable cost Insurance.
