Red face 'Stayin Alive' UPDATE for Cars and Parts for Charity ' RC Guys rule'

Welcome RC drivers,

Yes It's me again,

I'm still seeking radio controlled cars, partly built projects, broken models, Batteries, chargers, electric motors and accessories for electric cars, or just that box of spare parts taking up space in your cupboards or shed?

Don’t know what to do with them? Would like some pocket money? Would like donate something to help someone at Christmas time that cannot normally enjoy the thrill of Radio Control?

Well, please contact me and let’s see if we can make a deal.

I am building and repairing as many models as I can from spare parts by Christmas to give away to teenage boys and girls, those who just don’t seem to quite fit the Christmas gift donations so generously given by loving and caring Australians.

I have a Brisbane Family radio station in mind to distribute these for me; however they will not be contacted until I have a good idea of how many I can complete and if I can fulfil what I have started.

I am not rich so please don’t contact me if you are looking to make a lot of money from a sale. This is to help those teenagers in need, not to help me personally.

Any form of help toward this project can be of great benefit to achieve its aim; many thanks in anticipation.

Kindest regards

Mark.

A Message from X5 Addict

Hi all,

A quick call out to anyone who has unused / unwanted cars, parts, radio and electrics etc. they can donate for kids less fortunate.

I was sent an email a couple of weeks back from a fellow in QLD Mark Baker who has a length of time off work due to illness, and to stop himself from going crazy with boredom has come up with the idea of getting some car kits together for kids this Christmas.

This is a new project so ANY gear is appreciated, there is no narrow list of what's needed, that will happen as stuff starts to come.

He is not affilliated with any charity at the present.

He is willing to pay postage costs so there is no expense to you (although if you can it would be appreciated).

From several emails I can see he is genuine about the endeavour, and it is a great cause to get involved in some capacity.

To make it easier, I will pool items from this area (Sydney) and send up in one or 2 larger parcels at a time to cut total postage costs. I race at St Ives every 1st and 3rd Sunday so please come up and see me, or drop me a PM for other arrangements.

If anyone else in other areas can do the same, please let me know. Or you can email Mark directly:

mailto:bakersfour@optusnet.com.au

Thanks everyone in advance for your help.

Cheers
Tom.

Excert from an email conversation with Mark
Regarding the Cars – all is going well, I have three 1/8 1/10 scale finished, not all look they used to originally, but are cool. I have a near new General Lee Approx 1/18 and a near new V8 Commodore same size now finished – 9.6 V, also a near new off roader similar scale – 9.6V. I have two on the run working on electrics and radio, two utes – Holden and Ford, shouldn’t need too much work?, a Super Hornet got for a fiver at markets two weeks ago, appears complete, couple of near rollers TT-01 - 05, one near complete, two more Porsche promotion cars 9.6V, not yet looked at and lots of bits and pieces. Have a few 7.2 NiCad and NiMh batteries, chargers; 18 batteries promised from Knox RC club Melbourne, Gold Bullet connectors on way from eBay on it goes. The RC community have blown me away with their generosity and trust; well most have.

PS: HE'S A BRISSY - MIL SPEC - NICE GUY !!

Hi All

I had started something similar here in Melbourne but it fell flat due to not enough donations so I am willing to be a collection point for Mark so things can be sent in bulk.

I have an account with a courier so it will be a bit cheaper than sending them by Austpost.

Default Thanks Guys

Thank you guys for your comments and offers of help; as Datruk has commented on, without the help of others, this sort of project simply cannot happen.

Datruk, I'm all for paying less for freight; the old wallet has just needed a hindge upgrade.

To all the RC Community: I consider myself blessed that you all, the RC community, have put both faith and trust in me to help me make this project work. After all many people are real short on money and trust in this current environment.

Hey Blis, if I realised you were going to 'extract' me, I would have tripple checked my grammer; I noticed a word or two missing there. But thanks for the support.

Hey Crazydave - you sound like my brother, anything you have will be helpful; your junk may well be my treasure. Thank you.

Thanks again Guys.

Mark.

Somehow I dont think the RC community judges people heavily on spelling and grammar!
