Default 2009 ACT Titles

Hi Guys,

After being question about the 2009 ACT Titles I felt it would be appropriate to start a thread about the 2009 ACT Titles.

Here are the confirmed details:

Dates: Practice - Friday July 17th
Qualifying - Saturday July 18th
Finals - Sunday July 19th

Exact Schedule to be confirmed

Venue: Building M, Exhibition Park (EPIC) Canberra, Carpet, air Conditioning/Heating, Power and Lights all provided.

Classes: Mini, 540, Stock, 13.5, Superstock, Modified and 1/12th.

Rules: The ACT Titles will not be a sanctioned event however AARCMCC rules will be observed with the following acceptations.

Tyres - This is not a control tyre event, you will need to bring your own tyres.
Bodies - Provided the body and Wing has been cut to the appropriate crease line and the wing is below the roof line both 2 and 4 door sedans are permitted.

Feel free to post your questions.

I would like to invite feed back from those off you who are interested in attending. In the tradition of doing things a little differently instead of the usual 6 qualifiers and 3 A's and 2 B/C's and so forth The committee will be discussing the possibility of running the following format:
4 IFMAR qualifiers, 5 A finals and 3 B/C finals, the idea is to have more racing and les practice.
Here are the questions - What do you think?
If we ran 5 finals should we drop 1 or 2 finals to calculate the results?
You like the idea of more finals but feel that 5 qualifiers would be better?

This is your opportunity to provide us with feedback for the 2009 ACT Titles.

Seems like a crazy amout of classes!

I would say 5 qual with 5 finals would be great but you would have to wait and see about numbers before deciding this. If you want to increase time racing you could run normal format with longer finals such as 6-8min.

Anyway something different sounds cool.

Its always great fun at ACT indoors.... Crazy amounts of grip and steering! It worth the trip just for the exp of carpet foam.

We are a bit crazy, but we do need to run the classes that we run a club level.

I kicked that idea around a while ago, but I think it might be problematic in that people will set up to race for 5 minutes (I'm thinking mainly motor temps as run time is no longer an issue) in qualiy then they migth find them selves to close to the limit during the finals and blow somthing up. Maybe we could run the races for 6 minutes though? Thoughts?

YES. Were pretty much running these rules for club racing and as the CC uses them it makes sence, everyone will allready be setup for these and will know what to expect.

Mod + carpet + 6 minute racing(and a few practice laps...) = thermal/dump(IMO anyway).

As you have already thought, motor temps will be right up there at 6 minute mark-leave the basics of the meet as per sanctioned events-just with modified tyre and body rules as you have already mentioned.

I think the 4 qualies and 5 finals is a sterling idea-just need to start a bit earlier on Saturday-the 9.30pm finsh was a bit rough last year It may also help with the win at all cost 1st corner smash up that seems to be the norm in a mains of late I think that only allow 1 final to be dropped also-that should sort the men from the boys
