Reason: update
Obviously one supporting class will be the Minis. This is confirmed.
With the event being so late in November and close to the New Year, we are considering allowing the new M05 chassis to be included for the event. It is realistic to do so as most will most likely have one well before then (as they are being released this week) and we doubt that the car will have any great advantage over the M03.
I will help support the Mini class at this event with prizes etc. Want this event to finally determine the Mini Master in Australia
1/8th scale electric motorcycles (Venom GPV-1 bikes)
There are 4 entries already and hopefully a few more will also join in before November.

Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down and have some fun
I enjoy onroad 1/10 EP Touring, 1/10 GP Touring and 1/5 & 1/8 EP Motorbikes. I also enjoy off-road 1/10 EP Buggy , 1/10 EP Truck and my 1/8 GP Monster Truck. Can someone have so much RC Fun?

I thought we made rules for 12 months. Not close to.

TJ, it is being considered. I have spoken to our southern cousins regarding this possibility. Their response:
"Already on the same wavelength..
We were going to ask if the Metro Masters in Melb (also in Nov) could be an
M05 event too..
So you've got our support.."
It is logical as the chassis will be allowed next year and being this late in the year it allows the opportunity to run the chassis. That and the fact that a number of non Mini racers have expressed interest in buying a M05 and racing. The inclusion is aimed at increasing numbers ... no sinister motive
So by your reasoning if a new racer came along to Castle Hill to race on Friday nights with a M05 you will tell him that he cant race until next year?
It is not set in stone. It was only a suggestion at this stage. The idea is to make the event successful. The contact with the Victorians was to see what their feelings were on the matter.

We are not talking about club level racing - we are talking and have always talked about major events. I would think that the VIC's would agree that a club could do whatever they want. The rules are in place so that IF a mini driver wants to race a major in any state they can without worrying about what rule changes you had to work with depending on the state. We haven't had these rules 12 months and already changes are being considered just because of convenience.
Look this is only my opinion and you do the same if you don't agree with rule changes being considered in events that I run. This new mini is unknown - you may be correct that it will not perform as the old BUT what if you are wrong and to be competitive you have to have one...
Yes true ... consideration would be made of the performance level of the M05. But this would at least give us some insight into what can be done next year.
If the M05 is far superior to the M03 chassis , what are we to do? No doubt the M03 chassis will be slowly withdrawn so racers wil have no choice if they want to run next year. I cant see Tamiya running both chassis side by side.
It is in reality no different to allowing M03 versus M01
As I said, it is only a consideration at this stage. I think it is fairer to mention it now rather than later.
The MO5 and MO5 Pro will be released in Australia in August this year. When this occurs most prospective mini racers will purchase this kit in lieu of the MO3.
I think that we are debating the same as already mentioned when the MO1 was superceded by the MO3. I am sure that would have caused problems initially. I also believe that both chassis types were run together until racers switched and parts became harder to obtain.
The mini rules which we currently have are excellent and have encouraged more people to run in this class and promote this level of racing. However with the introduction of a new car and a plethra of new mini shells, then we need to consider refining the rules for next year. I am not advocating this has to happen now, however it will be done prior to next year. This will be done, same as last year with inputs from state representatives.
I also think that people need to remember that Mini at the Nationals is only a DEMONSTRATION class, not a fully sanctioned class.
I think that if we discourage the advancement of the class we are doing ourselves an injustice. I am open for discussion, however this needs to be in another thread and not distract from the Nationals event.
Regards,
Calvin.
