Now we getting into the intresting stuff. And from the results I have gotton on the CE 45 I agree the real Question is how strong and how much air gap and how do we actualy measuse this?

I'm pretty sure the guys at Epic/ Yokomo/TOP have already done their homework in air gap.........if you wanna measure true magnetic strength then buy a tesla meter, Yokomo makes one.
A home-made hall effect sensor does the same job.
On a side note, i'm actually suprised with how many people neglect to re-shim their motors correctly. After all, where's the point in buying zapped motor cans or zapping them yourself or choosing the strongest magnet...... when the armature is not sitting properly in the strongest part of the magnetic field. Or even worst, sitting far outside the magnetic field centre and having the armature bind with the bushings/bearings.
The first telling sign that someone is checking their shimming incorrectly is when they hold the shaft with "two fingers" to move the armature up and down, while holding the motor vertically.
Sorry guys, i just had to get it out...

Shimming is an interesting area, not having used a dyno much i always assumed that putting the arm magnetically neutral would provide the highest power output, i recently got a new mod motor, had a friend play around with it on a dyno, when we shimmed it neutrally it lost quite a bit of power, put it back as it came from the tuner, which was with the arm pushed up in the can, and the power was back. I guess it all comes down to trial and error with the correct measuring devices to work out the best combination for each motor.
I guess this is where the "black art" part of the hobby comes in.

Interestingly, i've spoken to some motor tuning companies and they actually acknowledge that you mite need to re-shim their motors when you receive it. Manly because the motor goes through a hard time when being transported overseas......like being dropped and stuff which shifts the magnetic centre.
I was on a plane the other day and was noticing how the guys transfer the luggage under the plane onto the loading deck......this guys actually stood 2 metres high away and tossed every bag onto the deck.

Big Jim's Black Book..
I want to Zap a lot of my older vintage motors.
I know that some companys use to sell a Motor Zappers too.
Big Jim's Secreat Black Book is a real good read with over 30yrs of motor building and tuning.
Im lucky I bought one but from what iv'e been told they are worth some big coin now...

yanks & europe had some big heavy expensive gadgets, $600-1k+
hongkong had the APEX addon to the cell zapper that was more affordable
but end of the day it wasn't easy to tell how effective a zapper is.
The real motors that could use a zap are all the 540 sealed cans...

Got the book, the alignment rod, the fiddlestick spring guage... probably some dregs left in the Tribo bottle too
