Racing in or around Brisbane
Hi all
I'm moving over to Brissie from the UK in October. Does anyone have any info on where to race 1/10 electric in or around Brisbane. I don't mind travelling if there is a good track somewhere.
Any other info such as links or whatever would be appreciated.

Thanks very much. Looks like my move is going to be a good one, a new job, sun, sand, sea, Kylie & Danni and racing as well (not in order of priority!!)

Thanks again Fatdoggy
Not sure where I'm going to be living, "an appartment 10 mins from city".
I was there with work for 3 months last year so I know the place pretty well. I'm really looking forward to it. I'll post some of my racing (crashing!!) exploits when I get there.

Cheers

g'day,
in general the scene hasnt been as strong as it once was, with numbers being low, and off-road and on-road tracks either stopping racing due to lack of numbers or having to close down, it wasnt looking good.
don't dispair tho, that low point has definatly passed and thankfully there are now people willing to put in and eager to help keep building it up again.
recently(ish) in QLD "Club Spec", which was a class using approved 16x3's motor only and the "540" class, which used the old johnson grey's were abolished. in their place the Rebuildable Stock class was brought in, with modified ofcoarse still remaining the other class. So now with only 2 classes instead of 3, not only are we now only just comming inline with what are basically world standards now... but you certainly get better racing, on a more even playing field and more people in each class, which makes it all the more enjoyable for everyone.
as for the frequencies, the legal bands are 27mhz, 29mhz and 40mhz. below i've pasted a list that was published by www.nswrcrcc.org.au as apart of their page for the upcomming 1/8th scale worlds they're hosting next month.
27Mhz
26.975 || 26.995 || 27.025 || 27.045 || 27.075 || 27.095 || 27.125
27.145 || 27.175 || 27.195 || 27.225 || 27.255
29 Mhz
29.725 || 29.745 || 29.765 || 29.785 || 29.805 || 29.825 || 29.845
29.865 || 29.885 || 29.905 || 29.925 || 29.945 || 29.965 || 29.985
40 Mhz
40.665 || 40.675 || 40.685 || 40.695 || 40.715 || 40.725 || 40.735
40.765 || 40.775 || 40.785 || 40.815 || 40.825 || 40.835 || 40.865
40.875 || 40.885 || 40.915 || 40.925 || 40.935 || 40.965 || 40.975
40.985 || 40.995
so im guessing all of those should be fine here in QLD.
the off-road scene has been reduced to just the one track at the moment, but there are people are looking for new venues around brisbane:
Pine hills - outdoor, gas and electric. The numbers here are alot better than they used to be and seem to be forever slowly improving. The track is about the best its ever been. and with running both gas and electric, there is a class for anyone to race in.
they recently had the 2001 QLD off-road titles there and there are photo's of that and other past events up on the web site.
the electric on-road scene has also gone back to improving again. With a few good tracks around the place:
Gold Coast - a indoor carpet track. most of the racing is stock tourer there, but they also have a class for pan/f1 cars. i know its a bit of a drive from brisbane, but you do get some great racing there.
Fairfield - another good indoor carpet track. stock tourers and alot of the tamiya classes are big there.
There is also a "parking lot" track at fairfield, with a perminant stand, etc. in the carpark of the local train station.
Wynnum - outdoors, cement track. this club runs a great day of fun racing. not many of the "regulars" to other racing around brisbane show up, yet the number of people they have racing there is probably one of the, if not the highest attended clubs around at the moment. this is partly to do with them running both gas and electric, but even excluding gas there are still usually a fair few heats of electric racing there. The track is right next to the workers club also, so it gets plenty of attention from people that didnt even know orginised racing existed.. raising awareness which is great.
Brendale - large outdoors asphalt tack. easily the best onroad facility in brisbane, it however is primarily for the gas cars. hopefully someday the electric might start up again there, the only downside is that its a perminant layout, designed for 1/8th scalers. but that doesnt stop close racing.
Logan - i've not been out to this track yet, but from what ive been told they have gas and electric out there.
In both on and off-road racing, where they have the gas cars and electric cars racing on the same day, they dont run the gas cars any longer than the electrics so as to not discourage anyone.
Other local pages that might be of interest:
ORCCA QLD - governing body of electric r/c in QLD.
Heavy D - great bloke and has been the major driving force behind r/c around South East QLD for aslong as anyone can remember. his page also has a run down of whats doing around brisbane at the moment.
Hope some of this helps, it'd be great to see some new faces, and more people in general getting back into it.

Tones thanks for the post, I was beginning to think the only Aussie race was Fatdoggy, and he's in the US. The frequency info is good, it means my radio gear will be OK.
I'll check out all of the clubs when I get there (October) . It's good to know the scene is picking up, lets hope it's gets better & better.
See you at the track soon

Another track for the list...
There is also Sunshine Coast Radio Control Car Club (SCRCCC), it's located in Landsborough, about 45mins from Brisbane- great track to run on, and it's been recently resurfaced. here's their RCTech thread:
