MATE, keep your slagging off to yourself or between your little friends,
If you've had anything to do with running a club you will know that it is a thankless task, you put all these hours in and most of the time you get whinged at when things go wrong.
Jennie may not be perfect but she does a fantastic job for Ryde.
From everyone at Ryde
TTHANK YOU JENNIE

Ah yes, I recall the 2003 Nat's. What a memorable event that was, memorable for the fact numerous entries were never refunded. Now then, is that a legitimate issue to whine about?

I wasn't involved in the hobby at that time so I don't know the facts.
All I say is it's easy to bitch, but harder to see the good in people and what they do.
I was an active committee member of a very succesfull off road club in England in the 80's, later I was a founder member of (arguably) the most successful VW club in England in the 90's, and from my experiences you get to a point of why do I bother when all you get is flak from members who pay their money and think that gives them the right to do nothing to help, but just whinge. When it comes from somebody not even connected to the club, that is out of order.
I've got an idea, next meeting go up to the organiser and ask if you can take some of the workload off them, watch them bite your finger off

Spot on Jenny, that's what we would like to do so not to take away from other clubs' scheduled days.
It is probably better having the dates spread apart to ease each individuals ability to run. Sometimes having too many events close to eachother reduces enthusiasm as well.

I'd be wary though, with jenni's time line, there are big gaps and it causes other problems like canberra being run late novemeber, the interstate challenge is always on the first sunday of dec, you're going to have people being unhappy at two big away events one weekend after another. The old calendar worked, i agree with moving to 5th sunday of the same month but 2 month change and then causing canberra to change their date is odd.
besides when your club runs basically every weekend, its totally unreasonable to have a whole calendar shuffled to suit that club, i know some people have "good intentions" but lets not forget that the roorda tour killed off road 1/10 in NSW for a while. Illawarra still wants a round if clubs cant cope with a date close to what they were originally scheduled and im sure castle hill would like a round too if need be.
I think Mav had already discussed the timetable with the clubs and there werent going to be these wholesale changes to the calendar as they are suggested by jenni

Sorry I'll read posts more carefully, I didn't realise the month changes, I was referring to using 5th Sundays..
As I stated we don't won't to conflict with other clubs' days, and should have also said not too close to sanctioned or other popular events.
The dates Mav sent out are the ones we are working towards. I think he has it right.
Cheers
Tom.

The only reason Ryde races at present each weekend is because council is killing us with restrictions on our pit area, to get in our 2008 race calendar it was necessary to run each weekend to complete pointscores as those who attended our meeting realised.
Once we have pit access again we will be back to our meets on 2nd & 4th Sundays and 1st, 3rd & 5th Saturday afternoons. At no time did this club go out of its way to upset or cause conflict, if you were involved with the running of a club you would understand that some time we have to make decissions that may conflict with others, but most realise that it is only for a short period of time.
For gods sake give me a break and lets get on with racing and putting up good events, lets leave the ........ back in 2008 and move forward.

I don't know why you've taken what I have said as a go at you Jenny. I know Ryde's situation well. Whatever date is chosen for Ryde is going to conflict with your club days, can't avoid that.
I am president of our club so yes I do know about the time involved.
Besides the 30th are there any other days that suit Ryde? This is what the thread is all about, please be positive.

let's look forward and together we can make it work, for what it's worth my opinion is that months between meeting is a bit long.
