Would the M05 would be legal under the current mini rules used here?

Im also wondering if the M05 turns out to be a lot better whether it would, down the track, be allowed in the rules?

Absolutely 100% NOT legal under the current rules, no way known. Because the rules specifically state -

"Tamiya M01/2 or M03 series "Front Wheel Drive" chassis only"

So that answers that one Marty.

It's important that there is stability in the rules, so like everything else, the M05 (like the Switch) will be considered for next years rules.

But I don't think you need worry about it being 'a lot better'......

Cool, i should have added that those comments were made with reference to damit asking about what he should buy.

Personally though yeah, i like the new rules and how easy and simple it has made mini racing.
With the except of tyres ARGH!!!! i think i'm getting to the point where i have as much invested in tyres as i do cars

I also agree in that the rules should be set for the year....

In a rush last meet i managed to blow a speedie, due to wiring a power tube up back to front. Yeah i know, but first thing in the morning im, as they say, a few sandwiches short of a picnic. Especially being a night owl (hmm maybe i should start thinking about going to sleep).

But anyway, as the speedies are now so cheap i wasnt really that worried about blowing it up. I was more concerned that i was up for the first race of the day and only had about 15 minutes to replace the speedie from my spare car. Thinking back now, lucky i was ready too as i probably wouldnt have made the A final if i missed the first heat.

I would let people race the MO5 in club racing once they are released, as I don't believe you can force them to buy a MO3.

BUT, before anyone goes off half cocked, if though you want to compete at any of the big events, then you will need to run the correct chassis as stipulated in this years MIni Rules. I think that this will be easy to enforce.

As TG stated

"The mini rules will be reviewed before the end of the year and adjusted accordingly for next year."

Happy Racing.

Regards,

Calvin.

Word on the street is that the Switch won't be hassling any real race-goers in the near future either....i won't mention the words i've heard in reference to it!

The switch may yet turn out to be a good car. In RTR form, it looks like a dog but I think most of the issuse with it could be fixed quite easily and I would be surprised if they are not addressed when the kit is released.

What be this?...

It's a Kawada M300GT. Why have I posted a picture of it?
Dimensions - w/base 210 mm
- track 160 mm

Hey that's the same as an M03.... Yep sure is.

Basically a modified 1/12th scale (like the Tech DD/M) that takes mini wheels. Check out the width on the rear though!

Here's hoping. I'd love to have one - but if the production run is as poor as the batch i've heard about - my money will be going to another 03!

Perhaps save it for an 05. There may be some doubt about it also but we love to have the latest, whether its a dog or not.

Hmmm - i'm not sure i'll be in the line up for the early batch of 05's either. Next year maybe, but til then, i'll be 03 only

The fact i'm in Darwin and have no on-road racing doesn't count for much either

The MO5 Pro will be on display at the Shizuoka Hobby Show being held May 16 and 17 (general public). ( info from Japanese site)

Perhaps when the photo's of the real thing are posted we can make more informed decisions regarding the car. I know that I will be getting at least one.

Perhaps some new Mini shells may be on display as well. You can only hope. A 225mm Cooper S shell would be a treat.

I hope to have one before the Mini 50.

Later

Calvin.

Yep, the only American-owned car company that HASN'T asked for bail-out money from the Government...

So I can afford to keep buying things.
