Stock Class Combos?
Hi guys,
With the change in rules that Victoria is now facing with Stock (to catch up with the rest of Australia), im looking into buying a 17.5, but with reading others opinions on Lipo or Nimh, brushed or brushless for this class im unsure of what path to take. So i thought maybe this could be a thread to discuss peoples opinions and the differences they are finding on what combination works best for this class, on either short tracks or long. I for one am going to stick with my GTB and also my Lipos so im wondering what motor will work best, im leaning towards a NOVAK 17.5 but if a tuned brushed motor is going to work even better, with bearings now being allowed, i may have to look into this. Opinions? *Note if there is already a thread on this topic, by all means delete this one, or dont reply. Cheers |
Well i would have to say that a brushed motor is still faster. If you get the gearing right brushless is close but not quite there yet. I am running the novak system and I would have to say it is quite quick. At the recent keilor cup both stock categories were won with a brushed motor

It seems to be a case of brushed/nimh or brushless/lipo. The brushed/nimh combo has a slight edge at the moment but also costs a lot more to be competitive.

Interesting. Do we know any results from onroad racing in relation to brushed v brushless stock.

I allso won the 2008 ORRCA Vic Drivers Seriers in 2wd stock and 2rd in 4wd stock with most of the points coming from rounds were brushless was legal. |
