Too make a long story short... JRM's handle gearing better but have a little less rpm. Generaly they are better....

Would be nice to dump 27 as they love to get hot and melt, + they cost over $100 for a motor that dosen't compare to a cheap machine mod for $50! JRM go for around $60-$70.

Considering the US exchange rate the ROAR motors are always going to be pricey. Just something to consider - in the states they have a retail limit of USD$40. Now I have seen some hobby shops selling them for over AUD$100 !!!

If JRM adopted a rebuildable version then who would want to run ROAR27's ?

I suppose it boils down to what is 'stock'?; the 27 turn spec comes from the original sealed can 540 motors. The current stock motors kick 540 butt, however with the penalties outlined by Dragonfire above.

U can get rebuildable JRM already in oz and they still cost only around $70.

As to "stock". All it really is is a "inbetween" class (540/mod) that happens to be popular. I don't think any mod motor would be a suitable replacement for a 27t due to the big speed/power diff... but a cheaper alternative that has similar specs has my vote. Its prolly important to remember that most ppl racing this class are slowly moving up in the world and gaining exp but are not yet expert drivers. Make the motor faster and you will just increase the carnage that is often seen in this class (especially in finals.)
