Default New Proposed 1/8th Offroad Track for Brisbane East side

New Proposed 1/8th Offroad Track for Brisbane East Side

With numbers growing every week at club meets here in Brisbane, BDR had to split there race days to accommodate the large entry numbers.

On the East there is only a Onroad track and there numbers are healthy too.

When I first started racing there were 5 clubs in Brisbane Arana Hills, Lota, Ekibin, Ipswich and Eagleby.

There are more people around and more shops selling cars so there is a need for another Offroad track for the East of Brisbane.

There are a few council Reserves and Sports grounds around near Colmslie, Cannon Hill, Camp Hill, Wynnum and Chandler that would be perfect for another track.

I am willing to help the new club get up and running and racing.

Post your comments

Cheers,

John

That would certainly make south east QLD the king of Australian 1/8th offroad

I was once toying with the idea, I tried to gain access to some land at pimpama but it all fell through, I think it would be a good central location

Although I now live 2 clicks away from BDR

Lance I thought about moving closer to BDR but I think it would be easier to build a track closer to me

We would be happy with any track on the Gold Coast even if it was at Pimpama The council has alocated us some land next to the highway at nerang but when we get that or if it even happens anyone knows
We support all the clubs in south east Queensland now with our road trips of Gold Coast members , i hope that other clubs support us if and when our track becomes available but any new track in Brisbane would always be welcomed
On a different issue i think a race series of all the south east clubs should be organised so a race meet every 3 to 4 weeks at a different club meet counts towards a yearly point score , an offroad interclub . This brings all the clubs closer together and would benifit all

Any SEQ club looking to include off road 1/5th would be on an absolute winner ATM. There are lots 1/5 owners with expensive setups looking for somewhere to drive.

Steve there are a few problems with 1/5th and 1/8th on the same track

1 Insurance
2 Surface 1/5th only works on loose soil/earth where 1/8th use a clay surface

1/5th are growing out there and plenty have turned up at bdr asking to run only to be turned away.

Brendale has the land ready to go for 1/5th but I don't know what is stopping them as the land has been there for a year or so.

Just out of interest what would the insurance issues be? Have you dealt with this before?

If a club could piggyback the drivers stand with a 1/5 track on the other side would be a good idea to boost numbers.

Steve 10 years ago a few of us got together when 1/5th where first coming out and built a offroad track at a mates place at Burbank.

We inquired for insurance back then with no luck because we were not part of organization eg club that was then.

Now you would need to be affiliated with ORRCA or AARCMCC to have some sort of insurance if they aloud 1/5th off road .

I will inquire what brendale does with there 1/5th Onroads and what they come under.

cheers,

John

We have no probs running the 2 on our track here in Melbourne (MORRCC) Is good actually the 1/5th guys sweep the track clear way quicker then we can and our track is clay based I dont see a prob with 1/5th 1/8th and 1/10th all being together.
Good luck with the new track I have tryed to get land in 2 different spots in the SE of melbourne with 2 different councills and both got nocked back after the bloody council taking 6 months to say no Bastards

I live on the Gold coast and would love to see a off road track for us. to go to BDR takes 1 hr 16mins that is 2hr less time to race.

I just got on this site yesterday to look at touring cars- some years away from racing - has anyone approached the guys at Wynnum about setting up an off-road track in the same area? The location of their current on-road track actually covers an old off-road track from years ago. I don't know how they would feel about that but it would seem the logical thing to try. Probably have to start by becoming a member

as a member of brccc, i have talked with doug about this because where our track is, you cant go past the back straight, as this is the flood plain and we are extending our track toward the road in the comming months too. when the train park and our race day is on parking then becomes a problem to.but yes it would be nice to have both together.
