This is an excellent time of year to Visit us here in Townsville, escape the southern winter blues and race where we get sunshine for 300 days of the year!

Hi Guy's,

The Twin Cities Scale Model Motorsport Car Club will host the 2008 Townsville Cup as an annual event each year to be held by the twin cities scale model motorsport car club .

The Townsville Cup will held on 9th & 10 of August.
Nominations close july 29th.

Classes Running are:
2wd electric
4wd electric
2wd truck electric
1/8 buggy
truggy / monster truck

There has been a lot of interest down south for us to hold this event each year and promote the club a bit more.

After talking to a few people on the weekend there's a quiet a few people making arrangment's to attend the meeting from Gladstone, emerald, cairns & rocky.

There will be nomination forms at the twin cities track on sunday for those who want one.

It will be a great weekend of racing had by all.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

There will be a working bee on saturday 26th of july to put the lights up ready
for the townsville cup.

There will be another working bee a week later on August 2nd to do some track maintanance and general clean up. and put up some shade shelters.

Entries close on Tuesday 29/07/08 for the 2008 Townsville Cup so those of you that want race in the 2008 Townsville cup you need to get your entries in soon as posible.

I will have some entry forms avalible at the track on sunday at or club race day. All entries must be paid when you hand the form in. Trophy order will be placed Tuesday 29/07/08.

If anyone needs a entry form i will e-mail or fax you one if want.

On tuesday 29/07/08 there will be a Club meeting at the track at 7:00Pm to discuss 2008 Townsville Cup. After the meeting there will a bit of practice to test the new lights out.
( The meeting and practice is for club members only )

Hey... you left me out of Mod 4WD!!!!

Track looked awesome under the lights tonight. Awesome setup! only one slightly darker patch off the right hand side of the track.. hardly noticeable at all once the lights are at full burn and your eyes are adjusted.

The track grooved up nice and quick too without the sun burning down on it.

Looking forward to some night racing at the Twin City's!!!!

Excellent job with the lights fellows. As for track grip at night, I don’t know what tyres you were using Toby on your electrics, but once the dew started to settle on the track, a few of us 1/8th buggy drivers were struggling to find any grip.

Thanks to the club for the opportunity to test the cars out at night and in the cold. One tip is I don’t recommend using a ‘very cold glow plug’ with the Cobra X1 motor at night with those temperatures. It was difficult to start and had a few flames outs during practice, even after proper tuning. Go for a hotter plug.

See ya’s all at Friday night practice on the 8th August.

I apologise in advance for not being able to attend the working bee this coming weekend, heading down to the Qld on-roads in Brisy.

Pity my truck not sorted yet as it looks like a few more for truck wouldn't hurt. If it turns out to be 3/4 sorted when I give it next run this weekend and i feel it may be up to racing without causing any problems for other drivers getting around it, can any late noms be taken and at what damage to the hip pocket?
