Default LRP Competition TC Spec or not

Hey

I need a new ESC for offroad.

I was looking at the Sphere Competition Brushless,LRP 2007 EDITION
but the Sphere Competition TC Spec ESC is only $9 more & it come with a fan.

I was interested if anyone new of any reason the Competition TC Spec could not be used for offroad. or apart from the fan if there was any major difference.

Cheers

The combination of the the speed control, heatsink and fan makes for a tall unit, so apart from it all fitting under your body shell there shouldn't be any issues.

The TC Spec has slightly better internals to cope with the extreme loads of a touring car. The dirt is likely to make the fan wear out quicker than in the application it was designed for.

I'd use the sphere comp over the TC spec as the Comp has profiles more designed for off-road and the TC Spec for On road

save some money, i have both and they are allmost identical, you will have to mod fan lead(extend) on tc so u can mount fan on its side(doudle sided tape to chassis) to fit under 2wd body,tc is better in summer and in 4wd and saves a channel on youre reciever (if you run the fan on 07) ps both speedies are awesome, buy with confidense

I think the TC has a bit more torque than the the SHERE COMP cause it is designed for Touring Cars. But they work great in a 4wd off road just as good.

basically, run the TC model in 4wd off road and standard model in 2wd and truck.

hope this helps.

I think the Nosram Matrix ISTC is a great ESC for 4wd OffRoad, very similar to the LRP TC, for whatever reason.....

Thanks guys.

as one post reminded me I have no room for the fan at all in my buggy
so it will have to be the LRP competition.

cheers

You could probably take the fan off if the heat sink still fits under the body.

nah u cant take the heatsink and fan off the tc sphere, cause the heatsink is apart of the speedy itself, says in the instructions drew anywayz, u can buy the option world kit for the competition sphere anyway, but it will cost u a little more then $9

Get yourself the TC spec and swap the fan out for a thinner version. The electronics in the TC spec handle heat better so you are less likley to thermal.

As for the comp having better offroad profiles, the motors you run in offroad are soft compared to the onroad guys so the difference will be more in the feel of the throttle as opposed to the power you put down.

Anyway you can count on the Sphere's to do the job problem free.

You can take the fan off, just cut and heat shrink the wires for the fan. I never said to take the heatsink off.
