Default 2008 MECA CHALLENGE SERIES

So before the rules are finalised for this years MECA we would like some input (constructive please) on what we should do to please you the racer. That way we can insure the best meeting for everyone.

First topics would be

1) Stock class 13.5 motors or 11.5 motors. If 13.5 is chosen then all brushless motors would be allowed as well as brushed motors (as long as they are 27t brushed or 13.5 brushless).

2) No lipo batteries.

3) 5 minute heats

4) bodies as per IFMAR rules

5) MECA has always been a foam race but we are open to the idea of open rubber.

Regards

13.5 brushless and 27t brushed would be a popular combo. Allows for both people who have converted and people who haven't yet.

I would consider running if it was 13.5 brushless.

Thumbs up Meca

13.5 Brushless is a good idea as long as it is a 12.5mm rotor NOT a upgraded 13mm rotor and open rubber tires would be a good idea also
Also no lipos is a good idea

We would not be checking the rotors as it is logistically impossible to do. There are more rotors then just those 2 i am afraid.

The other thing is the car weight would be as per AARCMCC rules.

Mod would also be fixed at 5 cell with the weight for that class as per AARCMCC as well

Run the event at Windsor so that it can't get rained out

4) bodies as per IFMAR rules
I cant see proper scutineering being carried out here, so why use this rule ?
Make it a little more realistic for the clubbies to race to, now you know you don't want to send little Johny away for turning up with his DNA body because it looks cool.

Motors = Allowed the 13.5 to run up against the 23t JRM motors, a much more even match, and cheaper for those who remain true to brushed.

The new ROAR rules would be interesting

17.5 BL and 27 t together

13.5 as the superstock (read 19t equivalent class) with no brushed motors in the class

Default LiPo's

Why no LiPo's??? What is the reasoning behind this...

I didn't see any problems with them at last years series.

Pete,

I know they are not introducing them until 2009 but I was just saying that they would be a good option as the Meca series has always been a bit different and it would be a good opportunity to trila without much in the way of additional expense

That's interesting. It's good to see that ROAR acknowledge that 13.5 is not equivalent to the 27T

Yes that's the general consensus from most people around the tracks.

agreed.
ROAR has approved lipo for all 6 CELL SUB-C 7.2V CLASSES. I guess this is effective 2009.
But will be great if some local events (such as this) start trialling this for racing.
