Because it isn't an officially recognised ARCMCC association class yet, so it isn't officially recognised by the governing body that mandates how state and national champions are decided/recognised.

Can we push for 5 min heats??

I dont think we need to run 10, this way we get through the racing quicker and save on tires fuel engines etc

Yeh i agree especially if the numbers are suppose to be high and its to long to wait between rounds

this is the NSW State Titles buddy no "save on tires fuel engines etc" is expected. Your assault on this event John should be fully fledged, and calculated.

get your red dot tuned habib, or else i'll be zipping and zooming, ducking and weaving around your car and eventually zipping and zooming past you during the event

a new set of trued tyres each qualifier, that's a given mate.

personally 10 minutes is better as it seperates the feild a bit more due to the time spent entering and exiting the pits, hence it's another element that requires you to perfect (ie quick entry/exit and a good pit man).

in reality though, if we push 100 entries (which is easy as we have pullstart running) then it will be most probably pushed backt o 5 mins each qualifier.

i'd predict 25 to 30 pullers
easy 25 8ths, maybe 30 max
and the rest 55 or so, pro tourers

give or take 5 in each class.

5 minute heats worked really well in Melbourne and led to some really hard and close fought qualifying. The element of perfect pit stops is replaced by the challenge of doing over 5 minutes on a tank, particularly in 1/8.

I think it should definitely be considered for NSW with the anticipated number of entries and the inevitable Sydney easter rain

no doubt will be discussed tonight at the meeting.

i just did the maths for 10 minute heats. if we have 13 heats (some may have 9 drivers in them) then the sums are as follows;

1) we need no rain, or else monday will have to be used
2)start 9am, and finish at 4:48PM. 3 heats can be done in this period

this is with a 2 minute break between heats, add 1 hour 27 minutes if it is 3 minutes between each race (you need a 3 inute warm up at least for 8ths.
so estimated finish time of 5:27pm if it's a 3 minute gap.

total time of each round is;

2hours 36 mins with a 2 minute break between races and
3 hours and 15 minutes with a 3 monute break between races

either way, it will be a long event.

if the heats are pushed back to 5 minutes each round will take either 1 hour 31 minutes with 2 minute breaks between races or
1 hour 44 minutes with 3 minute breaks

with 5 minute heats you can do 5 qualifier rounds in one day, and finish at 5:40pm with a 9am start.

Tomas you make the same mistake that many people make when working out schedules. A 10 minute staggered start qualifying run takes a bit more than 11 minutes to run. This is because of the warmup lap and then the finishing lap followed by the warm down lap. Races therefore run for 10 minutes plus finishing time plus 2 extra laps.
The same is true for 5 minute races i.e they will run for just over 6 minutes. You must allow for this extra time when working out a schedule or it will be impossible to run to the schedule.
