Default Futaba 3PK

In the near future I am looking to upgarde my ever reliable Futaba 2PL Radio to a Futaba 3PK. I beleive that there are several different variants, however I am looking at either a 3PK with a 2.4 GHz module or a 3PK with 2.4GHz built in (does not use modules). The second system is relatively new to the market.

Can anyone advise as to whether they have had any issues such as glitching etc with this type of radio. Any feedback (no pun intended) would be appreciated.

BTW, I race EP onroad and 1/8 offroad (nitro).

Cheers,

Just bought the 3PKS with the FASST 2.4 system. Will let you know after this weekend (weather permitting). Have used it with no other cars around and it's fine sooooo far.

I've had a 3pk for over 18 months. I used it with crystals, no glitching. I currently use it with the Spektrum, never glitched once. I think with the current radios you would be hard pressed to fault any of the major brands or systems these days.

It's a good radio, I'd go for whichever is more readily available to you at the time, or otherwise look at price.

Be aware that if you go Spektrum, you have two options. One is the HRS system which requires digital servos.

I currently have analogue sevos that i will upgrade/replace over time so i need a system that can run both. I really do not want to go Spektrum. Thanks.

3PK can change to PPM-PCM-HRS. You don't have to worry about servo yet.
My FUTABA 2.4ghz never had problem on PPM with analogue servo

There's two Spektrum systems available for the 3PK. One does HRS, the other doesn't. The HRS version requires digital servos.

Cache Ya,
Craig.

I use a 3PK with the Spektrum HRS module. Had no problems so far, I use it for 4 different cars and all work fine.

I tried HRS with an ANALOGUE servo (Airtronics) and it works!!!! Which is strange as the instructions say it WONT work! This is with the FASST 2.4 installed. Will see what happens at the track today.

i'd be careful, it says stuff about blowing your receiver, servos and speedy or whateva and may cause a fire for a reason. just keep an eye on it

Thanks guys, will select PPM for the analogue servo then!!! I ran the HRS with it today and no more heat than usual, but I defo won't run the risk for the .02ms or so latency!

Having said that the FASST system worked great today, no probs at all!

I have use 3PK in PCM, HRS and now Spektrum HRS mode didnt have any issues. just make sure you use the correct type of servo, so I can said 3pk is well worth to invest.

i'm looking to upgrade in the near future too, is the 3pk a better option than a helios with a spektrum pro module?
