Default should there be a Off-road track in adelaide northern suburbs

There is no racing at all in the northern suburbs in adelaide. It makes me wonder there should be a track in the north as there would be alot of people interested in racing in this area. I had an idea of converting the existing on road track at the parks to off road as this track is no longer used because the surface is too old for racing. or maybe make a track at penfield again?
Any thoughts from anyone?

I have thrown around this idea as well Chris but in Golden Grove area near the village as there is plenty of land and they are looking to do a massive sporting field and they already have a skateboard park as well which was done by the council.

The only thing is the funds to get it up and running and also having enough dedicated people to make it happen and maintain and run it also

We have a petition going at "Complete Hobbies" for this exact reason.
Morphet Vale is just too far for some.
Go down to their shop and put your name down, it all helps.
Myself and a few others are approaching the Salisbury Council about getting a track. We also have other people who are council members who drive RC in the northern suburbs talking to Salisbury council as well.

Go put your name down, tell all you mates to go put their names down too, wether they got cars or not

Go to their shop at 1577 Main North Road , Salisbury East. On the corner near the Gym and washing machine shop. Opposite side of the road from the pub.

I think the track should be made for both electric and nitro cars. They could be run on the same day i think there would be someone avalible to run the racing if that was the case.
Im keen to do the hard physical larbour as in the making of the track but im not interested in doing all the oranizing etc
I cant help but think converting the parks- on road track is the best bet. They already have a drivers stand, 240v, storage facilties, fence around the track( which is important these days). the club has a old transponder system.
just a matter of getting a heap of dirt for the track

nitro and electric on the same day does not work.. sadly if there is even nitro cars on the track at all electric find it hard to run as the surface nearly allways gets fucked,

Yeah sounds good. Has most of the stuff needed already by the sounds of it, im unsure as to where "The Parks" is, what area is that, ide go check it out if you gave me an address. Are there toilet facilitys nearby?

A fence is a must IMO, keep out the freeloaders and pushbikes and stop it from getting turned into a rutted marble patch.

If you give me the details of this other track where it is etc, ide go for a look myself and if it seems to be reasonable i will tell the other guys and see what we can do, but as i said for now go sign the petition, its not like we cant send it to more than just one council.

i cant remember the exact address maybe someone else can help out here.
Hobby habit used to run there and also nitro on-road used to run there. but no one has run there for a while as the suface is too bad for on road now but its a great little spot with a exellent drivers stand that doesnt get used anymore so this is why it would be the best place to have it. The person that used to run on road nitro meets would still have transponders and computer system

You mean the place down Ferrendyn Park way.
As for transponders and computers thats not a drama, its the land and power/toilet + liability insurance thats the main concern atm.

The go was to get the land and insurance then hit up some corperate sponsers, which wont be to hard, then its just elbow grease doing the track.

Alot of the people involved come from different work backgrounds, eg Bobcat drivers, carpenters and welders, all walks of life so making the facilitys wont be hard at all.

The more people that sign the petition, the faster it will happen, so get on you bike

yeah its at regency park \ ferrendyn park
I am actually a certified welder and weld every day at work. not that its needed if the track is made at the parks though
As i said b4 im keen to make the track if the dirt is delivered i could take care of that bit and i dont mind maintaining it but not keen on doing any organization lol.

Good evening gentlemen!

Yes, I am the one who has got the partition going at complete hobbies. I am a keen RCer and want to get things happening in the Northern Suburbs.

The petition is for people who would join a "club" if it were to start. So put your name down with your details and I will get around to calling you ASAP.

GenReaper contacted me a little while ago about "the Parks". It sounds like a good possibility. If it were to go ahead, I could organise as much dirt as we want to be dumped for free.

what sort of dirt is that??
usually loam is the best in my opinion.
Ok next thing is i suppose to contact the council and also the guy that has all the stuff for the track because i suppose he is the one in charge of it all. I think it maybe troy mertin ill have to ring him.
can anyone drive a bobcat lol? i think a dingo might do the job still.
it wouldnt take that long to actually do the track at all its all the organizing thats takes the time.
ill be sure to put my name down on the patition
my idea is to make the track suitable for nitro and electric and as painy said nitros rip up the track so putting astroturf down on high wear areas would be the idea
but it all just talk at the moment i suppose
cheers chris

Someone said electric and nitro on same day wont work.. well i disagree..
over in the Gold Coast we have so far 1 electric class and 4 nitro?
track isnt even a year old yet..
and the electrics are just fine
some of them are going as fast as the nitros...

Loam bottom
Clay middle
River Silt top

That would be the best bet, tho you have to consider drainage and runoff etc for those rainy days.

Anyway, thats to be considered but its all in development stage atm, good things can wait.

Loam on its own is very high maintenance.
Clay provides berm and jump structures and river silt packs down well for a good finish.
