so when does my pull start electric car get a start ????
#65
Any ideas how many have registered for the race on the weekend?
#66
what the
Was the track sprayed on friday and if so what with?
#67
It was sprayed with sugar water, traction looked really good for the nitro's.
#68
There was plenty of traction today - I ran 37s all-round and had no problems with grip - others switched to 40s as the sun came out and the temperature rose.

wow its been a while since i have had a lap with foams mmmmmmmm different, but love the consistent feel.
the track did not feel especially tacky, but much more consitent than it has been for a while. There werent all that many nitro cars racing, so less oil was laid down than i had anticipated.
The TC5's of DC and Luc looked good on the bench, and didnt look too shabby on the track, though ATM running a front diff, so can only get better.

Was a great days racing....
Well done luc with an easy win in stock, and mic for dominating mod.
What did everybody think of the weird rules? in specific the 6/8min rule for races, the 1400g weight limit and the lipo cells.
I think the rules forced ppl who want to be competitive to REQUIRE lipos. Meaning you need to BUY cells that are generally not legal just for one series (assuming you don't run them at clubbies already). In mod it didn't seem to make much difference with ppl being plenty fast on either, but the weight helped out heaps in stock. Lipo cars had a clear speed advantage with the lower weight.
Fun day out tho for those that came and some crazy grip for the fomies almost like VHT kambah.

Yeah im not a fan of events with weird rules.
Although you need events to show case new items it makes the racing pretty pointless to the normal punter who cant afford to buy the latest and greatest equipment which is non-legal. I personally would prefer to run at a club meet, than get smacked around by people i know i'd otherwise be competitive with.
I dont know about the rules but if you were able to run 1400grams in one of the 8 minute races that would also be a huge advantage with regards to wear and tear on the motor, although people would probably just be more inclined to gear the motors up.

It was actually a good change not having to worry about making runtime anymore, and IMO the 6 minutes just chases people away from the event.
Whats everyones thoughts.
cheers

The rules probably did have a negative effect on entries - I know that I usually run in the stock class but I had to drop down to 540 due to the rules in MECA's "super" stock class (I usually have my car set up for normal batteries and a 27t brushed motor - and I would have been hammered by the 23t cars).
I know that in 540 we all dumped in the first round due to the 8 minute heat, but by the second heat I think most of us made sure the higher capacity batteries were installed fully-charged and we all made it through OK. I was running fairly old GP3300s and I was finishing the 8 min races with plenty of juice remaining (my charger indicated that around 2000mah was used during the race)
There was also a bit of aggression by one of the 540 leaders when trying to lap some of the slower drivers - I think this detracted from what should ideally be a welcoming class for newcomers to the hobby (who are also typically the younger members).
Other than that I thought the event went really well and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I'll definitely be there for round 2.
