Default Steven Richards Signs with Ford

Despite it being a rumour for most of 2006, it is now official that Steve Richards signed a long term contract with FPR, for 2007 and beyond. I think this will fill the void at Ford, left by Ambrose a couple of seasons ago, and then some. With Steven onboard, and with the way that FPR finished 2006, i think this will be a lethal combo next year.

Agree, the Holden guys will have a real fight on their hands. Lowndes will probably lift 'the bar' higher too

Ambrose was with SBR dude, not FPR, and Lowdnes and Courtney have taken that void up nicely for Ford.

I said the VOID LEFT AT FORD, not at FPR. Courtney has done nothing so far.

Would not say he has done nothing, he kept SBR's panel and paint crew in business for the first few months of this year. All those solid objects kept jumping out in front of him......To his credit he has kept the car reasonably straight recently.

Wow Nick, was it a "secret" for all of 10 hours
that would constitute "most of 2007"

the only reason his car has been straight recently is because he's on his xmas/NY break

Knew there was a valid reason..... As for the Steven Richards/FPR thing, it's prob the worst kept secret of the year...

I think it adds a bit more Ford/Holden balance.

Courtney will be stronger this year, if SBR still are of course, it seems to be that engines, previously their strong point, were left a bit wanting last year, particularly put in the spotlight by Lowndes and several rounds where Holdens would inch away during side by side runs at various venues throughout the C'Chip.

I thought, after a period of adjustment, that Courtney acquitted himself well and put Ingall away well and trully by the end of the season, a solid effort for your first year.

It will be good to see just how well Steve Richards goes, I'm a fan of him but not utterly convinced yet, up against Mark Winterbottom in what is arguably the strongest Ford team at the moment will really tell us where he's up to....

Should be a great season yet again in 2007....

The strongest Ford team was FPR by the end of the season they where not chasing the Champioship but under new budget rules the ford teams like 888 Stone Brothers and FPR will be better and stone brothers have got all there new things sought out they will be strong. It is good to see all the younger guys going faster as they are the ones to make it better. You have to let some new guys settle in watch them next season as a few where going better at the end.
