Default reccomend a good charger..

Hi, my charger seems to be broken and only puts 800maH or so into a pack before it stops and says the battery is fully charged. It does say that the pack has 9V so maybe its my esc and the batteries are really charged..I will try another esc when i get a chance..

Even if its the esc, i want to get a good charger to maintain my batteries, i want to spend as little as i can below about $200..

I was looking at the duratrax ice, is this a decent charger or are there better ones out there that are cheap and in my budget.

thanks...

I use a the swallow charger it's around $99 is a good charger only prob is it has a slow discharge rate. I use Li-Po's now so don't discharge.

There is a newer version out now that is both 12v power and 240v.

If you check out the ferral batteries site on cannon's sig you will find he's selling new CDC and Muchmore chargers for around the $200 mark
You can't go wrong with either of these chargers

I dont know the break down of the both but i have two of the cdc ver 6.0b and besides needing an external DC power source they are awesome

some models have a fault where the back light dies, but this does not affect the chargers performance

What is the configuration of battery pack you are having trouble charging?

If it is a stick pack, then probably a cell or two are stuffed, those cells will be a lot hotter than the others when you charge.

Can you adjust your charger to charge the pack at a lower rate? Try charging them at a lower rate (say 1 Amp), that way you are less likely to get a false peak, and it will be easier on the pack.

As with any NiMH pack is it important to discharge the pack down to 0.9V on each cell before charging them up again. You can't do this with a stick pack that is why "side-by-side" configuration packs are better in the long term.

The ICE charger is good. I charge both NiMH and LiPo packs with it.

I have no plans to run Li-po, they arent legal and probably wont be anytime in the future.

LRP Pulsar Competition is the charger you want. Frontline Hobbies in Newcastle sell them, Im sure other hobby shops do to

Matt.
