Default South East Queensland - Interclub Competition

In an effort to remove all of the Interclub discussions from the Brendale forum lets move the discussions to a separate forum.

Heavy & John

Is it possible to make the amendments to the rules for Interclub gas tourer, more specific, i.e. can we add clauses to stop people taking advantage of the ambiguity:

Rear exhaust engines are only allowed in RTR cars.

The list of TOP engines should include the equivalent NovaRossi engines of exactly the same specification (only one shop in Qld is stocking TOP according to Angelo from Team Cobra - plenty of shops have the equivalent Nova Rossi's).

On the front rotary valve - does that mean slide carby's cannot be used ?

or something like that ?

Clarification will be appreciated!

The use of .12 (2.11cc) or .15 (2.50cc) 3 port engines only will be permitted,
with a maximum rating of 1(HP) Horsepower.
The driver must supply manufacturer's paper work to prove HP rating to the satisfaction of the Race Director in the event of a dispute.
They shall be air-cooled, with front rotary valve, two-stroke induction.
With ¼-32 glow plugs.
No form of forced induction is allowed or any form of variable port timing.
No internal modifications of any kind that deviate from factory original
condition including the carburettor are permitted.
Carburettor maximum size 5.5mm
The following motors will also be allowed
> TOP CT12S2/N
> TOP CT12R1/N
> TOP CT12 R2/N
> TOP CT12 S1/N
> TOP CT12S1/NX
Any .12 or .15 "pullstart" engine that comes with a RTR kit as long as it
is run in the RTR that it comes out with.
Larger heat sinks can be used as long as the combustion chamber is the same
dimensions as the original.
No boost bottles allowed.
Any form of starting the engine is allowed.

I believe the front rotary valve has nothing to do with the carby type, but rather the placement of the intake port. In this case the window in the crank is the front rotary valve. The intake is from the front of the engine. Unlike some boat engines that have their intake from the rear.

Guys i have spoken to Heavy chairman of the interclub about the clarification to the gas tourer rules. After xmas there will be an interclub committee meeting schedule for Middle of January.

Currently the Novarossi top side exhaust 1hp motor has been approved,
but the rear exhaust is going to be discuss at the meeting.

The interclub committee is sorry for inconvenience

with thanks wt

Will the members of the clubs involved in the interclub get a say in the decision or will it be completely up to the committee???

Default Representation on the Interclub

BigTez

Your club has a representative on the committee who should be supporting (and voting) on the consensus of opinion from your club.

I would think your club should get together discuss your thoughts make discissions and then your interclub representative should pass on this information at the meeting January.

Have a great Christmas guys

Andy

I still think the biggest downfall in rc is no beginers class in both electric and gas.

We need a rtr class so the average joe can walk into his local store and with a little help be able to go racing, And with a little skill be a front runner.A good driver will still beat and unskilled one no matter what engine he uses.

Electric is no different with high level drivers competing in 540.Limit it to stick pack batteries these are now as low as 20 bucks for a 1900mah.

Guys we need to bring new blood into this sport i know this is a little off topic just feel strongly about the topic.

I really want to get my son into the hobby but dont know how im going to keep him interested when he gets lapped by mr money bags in a benginers class.

Justin Hughes.

I agree totally with you Justin.

Down south where i used to race we had a NOVICE class which was basically run what you brung and thats why the club would still be one of the largest if not the largest club in the country with an average of 60 at a club meet almost every month.

If we want this sport that we all love to survive then we really need to do something about it ASAP.

why try,
at brendale we have already organised a beginners class it is for people with very limited/no experience using electric rtr tc4 only. everyone has the same gear ratio, same springs and same tyres so nothing can be changed. i think trackside rc have organised packages and might be sponsor of the class.
i don't know if they have enough numbers to run yet, hopefully it will pick up.
this is for men, women and kids that fit in this class.

Brendale also has a ready to run class for gas cars as well. There is a clear diffference between the driving abilities of the rtr drivers and the gas tourers but there is still lots of guys racing in the rtr class. More then in the gas tourers on most friday night meets. Considering before the introduction of the rtr's friday night gas tourers were lucky to have a half full race.

As far as gas tourer rules go i think it should be kept as simple as possible. Side exhaust pull start .12 motors or the rtr motors on pull start cars. That way those that run in the rtr class won't stay there for years because it is to complicated or expensive to move into gas tourers.
