On the Gold Coast we have three gas Tour classes
Beginers class run any thing as long as your a beginer, lets the newbies run untill they really get into it then they get moved up to
Side exhaust class subjected to gas tour rules (which is still geting finalized)
and pro rear contoled by AARCMCC rules
I think if all the club adapt these classes they will most likely be more attractive to the newbies if they aren’t that keen they dont get too involved but if they get bitten by the RC bug like most of us do then they are subjected to the rules and regulations like every one else in the appropriate classes

With gas tourers I can't see why everyone is complaining about side or rear exhaust, if the motor is rated under 1.0hp they are the same in power out put..
proved that on saturday night....

There is a heap of rplacement piston and liner combos for rear exhaust engines that would give a significant power increase without changing the outward appearance of the motor. With side exhaust engines there isn't that choice.
Just makes it that little bit harder to cheat.

the other problem with getting newbies to rc clubs is that they don't know these classes exist only if they know from someone who is a member of a club. i think the clubs and/or hobby shops need to get together an do something like advertise the clubs, the classes and the sport or after some time we could start to lose these clubs

In the early days when i was still at mr toys, everyone who bought a car was told about meakin park as it was the closest track and with the comittee at the time no one was ever turned away from a race.It just seems either the shops dont care anymore or people are so involved with there own racing they dont have the time to help the new guys anymore.Hell some nights i find it hard to get someone to put my gas car on the track.
Racing is serious but keep it on the track and have a good time in the pits.

if you allow the tg series then you have to allow the novarossi m series. which is listed at 1hp and is the very first pro tourer engine and dont forget the other motors around the world listed a 1hp. if they allowed these motors i would not be court dead runing a TG because i would be running a much quicker motor.
they would still say i was CHEATING learn more about the motors.
BRING IT ON I WILL BE WAITING.

Hi all, Has any had thoughts about a 8th scale interclub comp this coming year? Between the gold coast and brendale over a 1 year seasion and 4 rounds. Its just an idear? I have raced at boath clubs and i want to see the 8th guys get togeather for boath clubs for at least one time for some kind of race meet even if its only as a normal race meet now that the gold coast has there track up and running maby it could be concidered this year to include 8th in the inter club depending on numbers how would run in the comp or race were the track and club is happy to add anouther class?. Thanks Guys Regards Jeremy.

8th Scale interclub
Hi Jeremy,
To answer your question about runnning a interclub comp for 8th scale.
Brendale are running two major meets for next year, So I don't think there would be enough time for Brendale to run a interclub for 8th scale.
In 2008, I would like to see a interclub 8th scale comp.
If time permitts this year, I will get in contact with the Brendale club and see if we can run a 8th scale club comp for 2008.
I know on the Gold Coast, We are getting more and more drivers who are running 8th scale for the 2007 session. I myself am looking forward to seeing alot more 8th scale drivers and I know of one or two drivers who have got some pretty trick cars for the 2007 comp on the Gold coast.
Jeremy I hope this answer's your question for now, When the interclub committee meet's next I will talk it over with them and see what we can do.
The Gold Coast club may run a 8th scale challenge for next. This will be something that the Gas race committee will need to talk over.

Side exhaust motors with pilot shafts and no pullstart up to 1 Hp. require no conversion to be made to belt driven cars in respect to syntax clutch adapters, cutting down the rear bulkhead, extending lay shaft length for pull starters. Motors like the O.S. Tg are cheap to buy and readily available to bolt straight in.
Like all O.S. engines they are reliable and easy to tune and as a conseqence probably be competative even with .7 Hp, they come with a bi-alloy piston that will also give a good long life, like is already being experienced with O.S. TZ engines.
I believe this will simplify the gas class make it cheaper and more attractive to entry level drivers who dont want to go through sometimes tricky modifications especially with trying to adapt a syntax clutch to a threaded
shaft.

Sorry I meant to say that the Tg engine is rear exhaust not side, and that probably some thought should be given to just opening up the rules to allow all engines up to 1.05 hp(as the ct12s2/n is 1.05 Hp) irrespective of exhaust type. It would seem as O.S. have considered that there is now few cars that fit side exhaust easily and now are moving away from side exhaust engines for this class, I hope the commitee members will look favourably upon this suggestion as in my opinion will simplify the class.

A few thoughts
Hello gents i'm thinking of getting back into racing tourers and would like to run the tg motor..
Just a couple of quick ideas.
Seeing how easy it is to upgrade piston and liner combo's for all rear exhaust motors.Get an engraving pen and initial the liner on the outside away from any of the ports as well as the rod.Do it with two signatures..eg..(commitee member) from your club and maybe (heavy?).Motor must be presented complete(not in pieces)and have correct paperwork with stating specs.
Please don't bag me out too much...lol
