Default **The Australian 12th scale thread**

considering, that 12th scale is on the up recently i thought it would be good to create a 12th scale thread to share ideas, setups and tips etc. i was originally going to post my question on the feral thread but thought i should leave this for feral related issues only, and this way anything to do with 12th is more visible.

anyway my first question is;

when i cut out the rear body post holes, should i elongate the holes from front to back (sort of like a squashed oval shape) so that the rear body moves freely? i noticed when i mount the body without pins and move the rear pod up and down, the body also moves up with the pod, which i'm assuming would cause binding when the body clips are installed

my body posts at the rear are on the t bar pod mount, not the main chassis.

also, i went to get jaco foams from rc hobby hanger and forgot to get the bearing size. what size bearigns are required for the jacos?

Tom .... the bearings are unflanged 1/8 x 5/16" for Jaco rims.

As far as the rear mounts are concerned, I have only ever seen them mounted on the graphite bar across the back of the car in front of the rear pod thus allowing the pod to move independantly of the body. I do not know if your setup is normal

There are a number of aftermarket chassis options available for the L4 . Has anyone had any real success with these chassis. I know Dan is pretty quick with the Hyperform Razor conversion. Anyone else using conversions?

Dan,

Are the rear body posts mounted on the pod like Tom was talking about? This means the body moves with the pod. It is hard to see on the photo

Its the BMI with all the spares I have. Tom doesn't know what his talking about.

Rear Body mounts are mounted similar to your 12L4.

yeah sorry i used the wrong terminology. my posts are mounted as per usual, but the problem was i had the body too low and when the rear pod moved up, it shifted the body up. so i basically have to mount the body so that at full travel the rear pod doesn't hit the top of the rear body.

i'm running the speed 12 part number 1609-21 i think it's the one that was painted up as a betley on the protoform site.

another question. how do i regulate the ride height at the front? is my only option truing the tyre down? currently with the stock out of box speedminds its 7mm at the front and 1cm at the rear!

there's one guy who is considering bringing CRC stuff in, but it's still up in the air i think.

currently the CRC website and OS shops is your only option. all 12ths are pritty much the same, just decide weather you want a T bar car or a the damper tube (CRC 3.2R) type 12th.

if you hate imperial screws and measurements i think your only metric option is the corally (not 100% positive ont his, but it is a euro car, so i'm guessing it's metric), but it costs some big $$$

you adjust the front ride height by shimming beteen the chassis and front bulkheads.
if you have the instruction book it should show you in the exploded view

for the front ride height, CRC make shims that you can slot in between the suspension blocks and chassis without removing the screws, they come in packs of 6, with 2 each of .25, .5 and .75mm thickness.

for the rear ride height there are a couple of better options than the standard associated adjusters. IRS make a set in .5mm increments, from 0mm to 3.5mm, these are available from towerhobbies. Xenon also produce them in .25mm increments for even finer adjustment, from 0mm through to 4.0mm, you will need to source these from Japan.
