its not even a superstock motor, it has to be a 19t, as u say its a modified motors, i dont know how many times we all have to keep saying the same thing, we should just write a booklet and hand it out to people

nah shippaz, you've misunderstood my meaning, i was just looking at the thread and theres like 7 people who have written excellent answers to ur question and enough info for you to get a better undertanding of things, but we've basically all repeated ourselves, so i figured, seriously, it might be worth writing up a little info booklet to hand out to new members so they can read up on all the info rather than get their info in dribs and drabs on a forum

Yeah, I know. I was just trying to give the guy some assistance in sorting his "Stock" stuff out.
Guess what. We don't need a booklet. I spent 2 weeks putting all that information on the website for those who are interested.

Hey Bungle. That contradicts the information on the website.
The approved motors for Novice are listed on the website.

Speaking of the website, we should get some of the Track photos replaced with up to date ones. What do you think Leo?

Never heard of that before, as long as i've been around novice has always been run whatever motor you can't handle
Wasn't there someone recently running a B44 in novice with something like a 6.5 turn?

Shippaz you could also just get a 27 turn brushed motor and use with your current speedo, noone wants them anymore so you can pick them up dirt cheap..

yeah i might just have to do that. im just going to continue to run nimh batteries ill just get another 5000mah i get alot of run times out of it. and that way i dont have to have a voltage alarm on the battery better off not risking $200 worth of battery if i get heavy on the battery use :P

Sorry for butting in but(no pun intended) my advice is to go for lipo first, don't bother with nimh, a good saddle say IP4200's will cost around $110 (Harrisrc.com), get a lipo cutoff cheap, $30 or so. if you can afford it Venom speedy and 17.5 combo seem ok for $280 (rchobbies) or there are good deals on old line ups Just shop around
Just my 2 cents

Yeah. The B44 that was running that very fast motor in Novice was occurring around the same time I was putting all the information into the website. We had a meeting to discuss what parameters we were going to set out for Novice as far as motors went, so I could put the relevant info on the website. What was drafted on the website was basically what was agreed at the meeting. We didn't want to put Novices to any great expense when they were getting started but at the same time, we didn't want inexperienced drivers running powerful motors, trashing their cars, trashing other Novices cars, and generally tearing up the place.
It was decided (so it was fair to everyone) that we would let Novice drivers use what they had to get started, but impress on them that the guidelines set out for Novice would have to be adhered to as soon as it was financially possible.
Most of the time, the motors that come with the cars are fine and fit into the guidelines set out on the website. Occasionally, a driver will buy a secondhand car that has a powerful motor in it.
There were a couple of queries last year from others associated with Novice as to why this particular car had such a powerful motor. Thus, we had to draw some sort of guideline, to be fair to others who were trying to do the right thing.
