Ah all this talk of electric drivers bring back the memories of pullstart and everyone who keeps saying that once you have won you should move up a class. Its all the same talk but different side of the track.
If people wanna race 540 or stock because thats what they like then they should be able to,regardless of what everyone else says. I thought this was suppossed to be a fun sport/hobby.Nitro is the same if you wanna race pullstart because you enjoy it then you should.

and expese is a big cop out, all the top stock drivers pretty much spend just as much as any of the mod drivers. sure the wear is a bit less, but the money they spend on equipment is exactly the same.
just an example, 4200 SHV 1.20+v are the norm for 540 if you want to be competitive. how is that any different from mod? none!
how is little johnny expect to compete against that? they get disallusioned real fast, i see it all the time.

I've been thinking about this topic, and im liking some of the latest comments on it relating to people should just be able to race what they want, because everyone will have differing reasons for running the class they want to run, some might feel that that's where their skill level is, some may be comfortable with the speed of the class, some may really enjoy the racing that the class produces and many more of course...
the other points ive been thinking about are that, firstly, its the same for everyone, when we were new to the scene, we all started out in the same boat, with the low grade car, no set up skills, crap batts, etc, and the thing is, a lot of the people on this forum stuck at it, built up their skills, and have progressed in speed and classes. kids are still coming through the ranks, look at these kids from canberra showing up some of the main stock dudes at the last few rounds of the challenge cup. On a club level, sure the new guys need help and advice, and thats a club thing.
Where am i going with all this? well racing is a tough thing, everybody wants to be the fastest but this isnt a full on sport, its a hobby / sport, and hence everyone can approach it how they wish to maximise their enjoyment out of it (within the rules of course), its not up to others to tell people to move up or do anything, if you want to run mod and put yourself against the fastest people week in week out because thats how you challenge yourself to get better, thats cool, but then its not up to anyone to then tell others they should do the same.
