Default 2017 St Ives Vintage EP10 OFR "1989 Worlds Re-release" event ??/??/2017

Hi all,

St Ives RC CC, the venue for the 1989 IFMAR Worlds (EP10 OFR), is looking to hold a vintage buggy event come late April 2017
(Now delayed due to congestion in calender due to prolonged wet weather- stand by for new date).

As it is looking likely that St Ives will be relocating our track from the present (and original) site during 2017, this will be the last chance we have to conduct an event at the 'Worlds' venue.

We hope to reconfigure the track layout to be 'like' the layout used for the 1989 event.

Classes will be similar to that used by Castlehill at their enormously successful events.

More details to follow as the date gets closer.

Hoping there is some interest out there for such an event.

Cheers,
Thommo

Hey guys! Great to hear there's another vintage event on the calendar!

Good timing too, people will be itching to give their cars a run

There's a few cars that I haven't had the chance to run at the festival which will get a start in April

Cheers

Mikey

We have been throwing around the idea of "Best 1989 hair styles and outfits" award.

So a 1989 Worlds replica buggy will fit in perfectly.

Will be cool to run on the worlds track! I started racing RC not long after the worlds in 1989, so will be good to have go on the track!

Will it be a 'Worlds' surface, i.e. no sugar?

That's what I'm thinking....rooster tails is 1989.

Subject to discussion with St Ives Club Committee of 2017.

If its going to be anything like the Casso festival, there'll be a good number of kids on the track (forced into it driving crappy old buggies by their twisted, vintage-mad fathers )

Hi MoyMoy,

Age of the drivers does not matter.

Main point is to get some of the older buggies etc out for a run.

Exact details re what classes we will have is still to be decided but looking at silver can, Tamiya sports tuned and maybe open motor as 3 motor classes. Or maybe just silver & Sports Tuned.

Then need to decide how we break down the vintage and classic classes, 2wd & 4wd separation etc.

My idea is to try to have people 'racing' with others of similar pace, so one idea is to keep classes to a minimum and grade heats after a round or 2. But as I don't run race control, not sure how practical this would be.

See attached list and details from Castlehill's very successful Vintage Festival held usually in October for what buggies might be needed to run.

I am on the look out for a Hotshot as had one for a few years ('85-'86) when I first dabbled in this hobby as a kid.

Loving that people like this idea.

Cheers,
Thommo

And don't forget that Castlehill has their Vintage Enduro event on 26th Feb 2017.

A chance for some to have a drive and maybe for others to have a look at the older stuff (drivers included) in action.

Default Date change likely

Hi,

Due to club series round, vintage Enduro reschedule and a busy April for RC,

I think we will need to find another date for the St Ives '1989 Worlds Re-release event.

Want to give space between vintage events and also some space in the calendar. Sydney's recent weather not helping.

Stand by for new date proposal.
