Awesome that you guys are giving this a go.

A Couple of questions though..

1) Is the pre trued diamter of 1/8th correct? a 5mm split?
2) What brand and style of tyres will be used?
3) Will the offset of the rims be suitable for all makes of car?

Cheers,
Jeff

This is only an idea. If drivers in the wider 1/8 IC community have a different feeling on this we are more than happy to take it all on board and change or compromise on the split.

The brand of tire is Matrix using the Capricorn style of rim. However suggestion can be made to a different style of rim or we can even possible for this event have a totally different style all together. Any suggestions will be accepted and considered.

With this we are planning on finding out what type of offset is being used by different manufactures and seeing if we are not able to come up with some sort of compromise. Again any suggestions from IC Racers on the type of offsets used by them currently on their particular c\brand of car would be appreciated.

Thanks Jeff for the question. Hope fully we can engage a few more to participate in some constructive ideas and come up with a result that is as close to suitable for all competitors.

Sounds like nothing is concrete yet, I dont mind on the decisions made in regards to brands diameter, offset etc.. as long as it is equal for everyone involved.

My biggest concern is knowing the answers well in advance of the meeting.

Cheers,
Jeff

Though only new to IC On-road my 2cents would be:
3 of 6 Qualifying Rounds count
3 sets of tyres for Qualifiers, 1 set each Final
and un-trued as handouts should be enough to overcome the need for marking.

Interesting choice of compounds for 1/8th scale. As Jeff said people need to know all the information in advance. It pointless going to an event with no prior preparation especially when it comes to tires.

Based on what is outlined in the first post, you will need one set of tyres per qualifier x6 sets and lower finals x1 set (minimum). Extra sets can be purchased if you make the top ten and for practice days (optional/ and or critical if you would like to setup the car on the tyres you will be using for racing).

Tyres are trued to size as outlined in post 1.

Only one round counts (rocket round format). If you only do a couple of laps for that qualifyer and still have fresh tyres, you cannot use this set of tyre for the next round and would have to get a fresh set from race control prior to the start of your qualifier.

Correct me if I am wrong

Correct Finchy. And this is why I am working to have an answer very soon.

Every thing you have highlighted in your post is correct.

I'm interested in attending but if I am reading correctly, I need to purchase a minimum of 7 sets of tires (7 x $32 = $224!!).

Not only that, I will be left over with 35 and 37 shore which most would agree is not the ideal shore at most tracks, so my 7 sets of tyres are not much use after this event.

Let's reduce the cost racing! 3 sets of tyres for qualifiers and 32 and 35 shore. 69mm and 76mn cut.

Also as a suggestion, any chance some time could be put aside on Saturday morning for practise? This could intice more to enter as you could get away with maybe only 1 nights accomodation.

i think its great that you guys are giving it a go! but honestly 37 35 is a bad decision for 8th scale. 35 32 work best around there. and honestly a 6 or 7mm split. 5mm isn't enough, but in saying that everyone is in the same boat! Where can i buy these tyres from?? i wanna buy a few set and come down for a day to have a run on the track with the tyres. considering I'm only 2 1/2 hrs away ill come down to a few club meets again

Default tyres

Hi
This control tyre system is getting toooooooooo expensive for non locals to enter.
We cannot afford 7 sets of tyres as well as 2 night accommodation and meals as well as 5 hrs travel time to come to this event.
Also for 1/10 touring 40 x 37 are too hard especially in the ACT in winter. We do not even in summer use these shore tyres so would have 7 sets of useless tyres. A maximum of 37 x 35. Last year we ran 35 x 32 to get grip.
We enjoyed the event last year even if we forgot our starter box and nearly froze to death but great track and friendly locals.
What is wrong with the tyre marking system used every where else.
Just set a time twice a day only to get tyres marked.
Just our thoughts any way.
