2013 NSW EP OFR Interclub Shield, Maitland, November 24th
I know everyone is thinking about Ryde on the weekend, but I wanted to get this up, so that each club can be thinking about their team for this event.
2013 Interclub Shield
Oversteer have opted to pass on the Shield. This event isn't a money spinner and with having to set-up a temporary track and hire a generator and so forth things were always going to be tight, in the end a few things just didn't come together financially. This means the meeting passes to Maitland who are next in line.
Maitland, November 24th
Harold Gregson Reserve, off High Street Maitland.
Entry Eligibility
The Interclub Shield is a team only event open to AARCMCC affiliated EP OFR clubs in our region (NSW/ACT). A team consists of 2 drivers per class in the AARCMCC classes: 2WD Stock, 2WD Mod, 4WD Stock, 4WD Mod, Pro-2 SCT, Stadium Truck. Drivers may only run a single class. Only clubs may submit an entry. A club may only submit 1 entry. Combined club teams may be considered for smaller teams outside those who usually compete in the CS. If you want to race give your nomination to your club. They will submit their team entry with transponder and frequency info to us the Friday before the meeting. (I'd like Club Presidents to confirm their team entry with me before then, just so I don't get shocked if 13 teams or 3 teams enter!) Cost per team is $150. There is a perpetual trophy for the winning club that Castle Hill currently holds.
Demonstration Class
Having got the agreement of the other Club Heads Maitland have opted to hold an additional demonstration class. This class is 2WD Junior Stock. This is a normal 2WD Stock class open to drivers under the age of 16 years on the date of the race. This class will have a normal heat/finals format rather than to Interclub format. Drivers may nominate for this class either through their club or by contacting us directly (PM me and I'll start an entry list for the class on the thread). We may also take entries on the day, but will need minimum numbers first. Entry fee is $12. Trophies for the Top 3.
Drivers running the demo class are eligible to compete in the shield. We figure this is a good way for clubs to have reserves on hand.
We will be particularly lenient in the application of the rules in this class. If you're winning because you are outside spec, expect to be asked to fix it, otherwise we'll be easy going. We want kids driving in this class and experiencing the atmosphere of what is otherwise an elite event.
Shield Format
The number of races will depend on how many clubs enter, but 5 is normal. Examples below are based on 5 teams and 5 races, changes will be made if more teams enter.
The races are all grid start, 6 minute races (this is an Interclub Shield Tradition that we have Ryde to thank for).
Drivers score points for their club on the basis of: 1st: 10, 2nd: 9....10th: 1.
The grid for each race rotates, with team mates starting on the same row.
Round 1 2 3 4 5
Row1) A B C D E
Row2) B D E C A
Row3) C E D A B
Row4) D A B E C
Row5) E C A B D
Start Time
We plan on starting racing quite late. No earlier than 10.30 am. The track will be open for practice before then. We're doing this because most people are going to be coming from Sydney to race a single class, so we want to give them as much track time as possible without forcing them to make it an over-nighter.
Track Preparation
The track will be prepared as it is for a regular club meeting. All the races are grid start, and times are not important. So, we'll be allowing the track to develop more than you would be used to for a CS round. This adds an extra challenge and makes the event that little bit more special. Our track generally runs truer throughout the day.
The video below shows some club racing on our current layout (different to the CS layout earlier in the year). We use the cut-through for EP racing.

No but I think we can assume that St Ives, Ryde and Oversteer are coming. They just haven't told me they are since we officially opened the meeting. Feel free to post here to confirm you are coming guys!
Also, I'm hoping we might get a few of the Juniors from St Ives, MH mentioned on the AARCMCC Online thread. It'll be a rare opportunity for kids to race a bigger meeting against others their own age.
