How far do you travel to race
How many hours would you/do you travel to attend race meetings excluding the nationals. Spent 12 hours driving to Cairns for the Cairns cup and while it was a great weekend and I will do it again it was a long way to travel.

When I was a kid my whole family would travel 2 hours every Friday night to race at Castle Hill onroad, and then 2 hours back.
I saw a comment in another thread that a racer who used to race at Windsor wasn't going to race at Riverstone because it was too far away: distance 13 minutes.
There is massive variation between individuals in this area.

Don't travel like I used to but a few years ago was racing every weekend some where. From my place,
1st and 3rd weekend of the month, Dandenong at 30 km round trip or Knox at 52 km round trip
2nd and 4th weekend of the month, Templestowe at 100km round trip, Mornington at 70 km round trip or Keilor at 150km round trip plus $16 in tolls.
Plus Wodonga once or twice a year at 640 km round trip, Mildura once or twice at 1200 km round trip for the Vic offroad series and Bendigo at 800 km round trip once a year.
So around 5800 km for all the closest ones or 9300 km annually if I went to the furthest away.
Didn't make every meeting so really probably did 4500 to 5000 km when I was serious about it, kinda sounds like an obsession when you add it all up.

2520k round trip on the weekend. Thankfully there was a flight covering most of it. However I have driven that trip before.

When I raced MX I'd drive myself 5hrs each way to race events or 10hrs with a driving partner. Now racing IC OFR I'll drive 8hrs or 10 with someone. I'm also starting to fly for events, still to trip international for Nitro but went TITC for the great experience.
When the bug has bitten travel for a big event isn't what comes to mind, only the feeling of racing a great variety of drivers.

I would have to say that normal weekend racing in Victoria it ranges from 5hr round trip to Shepparton, 6 hour round trip to Barmah, 4hr round trip to Bendigo, 3hr round trip to Castlemaine, 1 1/2 hour round trip to Sunshine and the EP tracks a both 1 1/2 hour round trips from my house, so each and every weekend is different.
State titles and Nationals, 22 hour round trip to Maitland NSW, 15hr round trip to Canberra ACT, 18hr round trip to Liverpool NSW, 18hr round trip to SDMCC SA and that pretty much covers the trips I would do in the car, Proline Down Under next week is a plane ride to QLD and WA state titles would also be a plane ride, so once a month there is a big drive involved to attend these events.
My hat goes off to the boys from WA that all jumped into a van ( 4 of them and there rc gear ) and made the drive across to Sunshine for the Truggy Nationals last year, I believe it was a 51hr trip one way so they are truly the winners with a 102hr round trip, huge effort.

They win. Makes the 24 hour round trip to Cairns a walk in the park.
