MINI NATS 2013 @ MPRCCC. April 27/28.
The 2013 Mini Nats are on! Mornington Peninsula RC Car Club is hosting the last hurrah for this event.
Some basic info..... hot off the press.
- Tyres are OPEN (no control tyres)
- There will be a motor limit imposed for this event only. Further specific details to come on this within a few weeks. So don't bother bringing your 'blinder' motor.
- We run, rain or shine. If it's wet, bring a winged keel (Tamiya option only please!)

It's the last one guys, (that we're having anything to do with anyway) so it should be memorable...

Im in again for sure, already itchy to book airline tickets etc but Christmas has sent me bankrupt again...
Looking forward to running on an even playing field horsepower wise this year, any reason for the "no control tyre" change this time around?
I'll try not to get drunk every night this time and actually put some effort into the car instead

Control tyres are always a contentious issue - people complain if you don't have them, and then they complain if you do as well..
We opted not to for this year. We will however be providing recommendations of what works for us (courtesy of Brad and Tim) so you wont be in the dark completely.
And yes Ned it is the last one, that we will have anything to do with.
Anyone can run an event and call it 'Mini Nats' in the future if they wish (indeed the very first one was in Sydney and Greg Fisher ran it), but we won't be involved with it any more.

Tony is there going to be a maximum number of tyres allowed for use during the event? I can just see money bags racers throwing fresh rubber on for each run, at the 2011 aarcmcc nats we had a maximum of ten wheel and tyre assemblies allowed over two days which seemed to work well as a bit of rubber management came into play by the last final...

At this stage we have no plans to impose a limit.
The scenario you've posed is possible, but someone could also just as easily use 2 sets for qualifying and hold back 3 for the finals ending up with the same result.
We've been strict with this the previous events so we thought we'd try a different approach this time.
