I thought mid april is the NSW state titles weekend? I know the titles have not been on that weekend for a couple years but I think this year AARCMCC are working to lock it in early. Just a thought.

Hmm I might get an F1 for the smaller tracks!

Thanks for the thought Craig. IF it happens at that time of the year it has been end of April to the beginning of May. I think the last time it was run at that time was about 4-5 years back when Castle Hill ran it at IMCC. and it was around that time.

Yep that's the last time I remember too, and at the time I remember thinking "wow states already"

Any idea who might be bidding for the States this time? I guess Moorebank will be interested again.

It looks to be the new 12th with the benefit of no stupid foam tyres. I am a bit over TC and this looks like a fun change.... They just need to release my car....

As long as F1 stays as a fun class and doesn't get too serious. There's enough of that in TC already!

12th is the new 12th. Accept no substitutes.

Even Rheinard is building an F1

What are the motor rules likely to be? I think the slower the better, i.e. 21.5 blinky would be ideal. I used to run silver can with my F102 and F103 back in the day & I always thought that was a better power balance than CO27.

I think 21.5 is the popular choice, and certainly was when RC Formula 1 put their voting out http://rcformula1.com.au/index.php/racing/rules. I assume also that it will be a Rubber Tyre rule? Will this also be the case for our carpet in Canberra. I may just have to buy one and have a run!

Yes, you're right 21.5 was the popular choice for the racer survey conducted by RC Formula 1. They're doing a club vote now, here are the results so far: http://rcformula1.com.au/index.php/racing/rules

Rubber on a direct drive on carpet is awful. I think TJ commented on the Regs for f1 racing in Oz thread at one point that he sees rubber for tarmac and foam for carpet as a solution to that, so if I had to guess, that's the way I think the CC would go. Especially as that's what the CC does for TC already. But we'll find out soon enough.

Our American friends don't seem to have a problem running rubber on carpet. The surface is the same for everyone....

21.5 is perfect - let's keep it a fun class

The American's use Ozite with tons of traction compound, everyone has to use the same traction compound, and they have lots of running to bring the grip up. That's the only way they get reasonable grip with rubber on carpet. Ask the guys who have been to the US, this is what they will tell you.

You can get a rubber car to work on carpet without all that to an ok level, but it is difficult. Far more difficult than I think most people would bargain for. The Highway Hobbies guys started off with the intention of making F1 rubber only, or maybe having two classes. After 3 weeks they had given up that idea and stuck with foam.
