Just had a quick look, is the "A Main tie breaker, 3rd best run (dropped run)." a typo?

Will we be able to enter online, or do we have to fill in the form and mail it back?

That's pretty misleading actually. It implies that you add all 3 finals together and only if there is a tie do you drop one which is not the case.

The correct tie-break regulations are as follows:

Originally Posted by AARCMCC EP ONR Rule Book
6.8.3 Final positions will be decided by a point system based on ten points for the winner of each final on down to one point for the tenth placed finisher in each separate final. The best 2 of 3 results are counted. In the event of a tiebreak, the driver with the single best finishing position in either of the best two (2) finals that counted, will be awarded the tie, in the event of a continuing tie, then the laps and times from the best finishing position will be compared and the one with the fastest laps and time total will be awarded the tie. If still continuing, then times from the second best position will be compared. The discarded Final or Finals will not be used to settle a tiebreak situation.
Which is the same as the IFMAR regulations for those wondering. This procedure has operated at AARCMCC EP events from the beginning of 2011 onward (it was voted in at the Bendigo AGM).

I think it's a typo, muchmore masters never changed the tiebreaker from 3rd final and that's what the form it's based on.

IIRC it should be double B-mains now too.

Daniel does IFMAR have the highest finishing position or is it simply fastest run? This seems silly to me in reality, you can the 2nd fastest all meeting up until the last amain, then when 1st place sits they sit out the 3rd amain you can be hacked out and lose 2nd place to someone that's been slower all race meeting. Should be just fastest time out of the two finals IMO

This is what IFMAR use as the tie-break, which is why we use it.

I hear what you're saying. I'm also a believer in not sitting out the 3rd final even if you've won though, in which case to get that benefit you describe you have to beat the new Champion in the last final.

I think the main reason they have that in is because it reduces the number of times that someone wins the title without winning a single main. I can think of only one instance that occurred at a major meet*.

My personal belief is that the tie-breaker should be the discarded final, I think we've already removed enough of the luck element by adding only your two best runs in the first instance, but it seems few people agree with me. We probably don't want to discuss this too much here as it will derail the thread.

*(Chris Bing won ROAR 2WD Mod Title as a Privateer in '96. His only sponsor was a guy named Scooter who wound his own motors. He TQ'd, and won the title with 2 2nds and a 3rd from memory. He also had a grindy diff for the 3rd leg.)

Edit: also you're correct on the Double-Bs. Both of which are supposed to count according to the regulations. (Worth noting that if only 2 of the 3 As are completed because of rain it is best 1 of 2 though.)

Entries starting to roll in keep them coming guys

Lots of talk starting to happen who's going to take out mod will it be the interstaters or will the local guys step up and protect their own turf?

Stock boys, after the battle at challenge cup I'm sure it's going to get even hotter, hopefully I'll get some good form back and get into that mix again

Will phill dominate again in 21.5? Don't know, but I know there is a line guys ready to take his crown

And I'm sure the mini and 12th scale battle will be epic too

We will be having two warm up meets in September on the 16/9 and 30/9 so you guys can get your weapon of choice dialed in

I'm really pumped up to get into race control and call this meet so get your entries guys, the 2012 NSW State are going to be Epic

Cheers
