Having had a disscusion with a number of racers now about the F1 demo class (and I appreciate that the rules are already in place even if I don't fully agree that they'll meet what the intention for the class should be), there are a decent group of us that have agreed to all use a single spec rubber tyre, simply to make life easy. At this point in time, I can count at least 7 drivers that are in on this, and I would hope this suggestion will bring out more.
The tyre in question that we have pretty much agreed on is the Ride R1, which comes as a pre-mount as well, in both Tam and FGX fitments. I know Heavy is on-board with this as well, and he has personally run them and been impressed with how they perform. So for those also interested, should contact him at Action RC to sort out tyres.
The way I see it, we can all compete in the demo class. For those that want a simple life, we have a spec tyre group, whilst those that want to run foams, then you can run them too. I will say that as encouragement, I am working on a separate trophy for the rubber tyre winner...
Regards
Ed

Ran the Ride R-1 pre-mount F1 tyres over the past couple of weeks with positive results on a couple of tracks in Victoria.
Night time 25 degree track temp asphalt (Boronia) - Tamiya F104 X1 silver can - good grip with mild understeer. Pit Shimizu soft (571 front and 575 rear) gives similar grip with better turn in on my setup but I still like the R-1's.
Day time, different track (TFTR), asphalt, track temp ramped up to 44 degrees (Sunny and 24 air temp) - Tamiya F104 v2 with 17.5 blinky - good grip with some understeer but less than at Boronia. Grip is as good, or better, than Ride Medium (H1) Front & Rear in these conditions on my setup (and better than any Pit Shimizu combo I've tried on the F104 at that temp).
I'm hoping the QLD testing has shown similar positive results as it will save me from bringing a a suitcase full of tyres!!!
