There is a club meeting being held in the ACT at the venue for the Nationals on the 26th of February. Many people have only just become aware of this and have withdrawn their entries for the King of the Valley. Because of this we are currently considering moving the event.

Whatever decision we make its going to be the wrong decision by someone. If we move the event then we haven't fulfilled our obligations for the people who entered for the original date in good faith, and we mess around the Club Series people who have now moved events for us 4 times in 3 years. If we don't move it then we are not doing our best for our sponsors nor our top level drivers and those from Liverpool who have supported us over a long period who reasonably want a chance to race this event and get all the practice they can for the Nats. Basically this is a really sucky position for the club to be in.

By the weekend we will have a true picture of who is entering for King of the Valley and who isn't. For those coming to the Nitro-X round this weekend please feel free to come and talk to me when I arrive (which may not be first thing in the morning).

A decision about whether to move the meeting will be made following the Nitro-X round.

The front-running date for the meeting to be moved to is currently the 4th of March. But nothing is yet decided.

I'd like to thank everyone who was good enough to inform us of their change of plans. You doing that is giving us the information we need to properly make this decision.

Default King of the Valley 4th of March

The King of the Valley has officially been moved to the 4th of March.

The number of recent withdrawals from the event by top drivers to get proper practice at the Nats was such that we felt keeping the event at the same time meant we could no longer deliver the event people had signed up for.

After consulting with our own racers and the Presidents of Liverpool and Taree we decided on the 4th of March for the meeting. A large number of drivers indicated that they would attend the meeting if it was held then. The meeting is now just over a month away, and takes place in the off-week between the Nats and the last scheduled Club Meeting at Canberra. If you are travelling down from Queensland for the Nationals you might like to swing by Maitland on your way through and compete in the King of the Valley.

You will have to re-nominate for the meeting now. Please either email us, or send a message to Peter Hickey (Pete2) with your details to safeguard your spot in what will now surely be a top class event.

One month till the race meeting. Get your entry in if you want to wear the crown!

Remember, you need to re-enter if you haven't done so since we moved the race.

We're basically up to the number of entries we had before the date was switched, and there are a few interstaters entered. So, get in quick before places fill up. This is your chance to get one up on the big names before the Nats, and psyche them out!

All the gimmicks that have made the King of the Valley great will be there again: the throne, the crowns, the minstrels. Ok, maybe not the minstrels, but we plan to keep the theme going.

So, with the Moon but one phase from the tournament, by decree of the Kingdom's charter, it's regents and adjuncts do humbly request that all Knights wishing to joust for the crown and the right to call one's self King, do make their intentions known by way of entry. Noble warriors are advised to prepare their mechanical steeds and acquire a fit and proper squire such as to ensure their steed be well conditioned during the joust, and able to heed thine master's commands.

In other words, it's getting close, time to enter and get ready!

I know everyone's minds are on the Nats right now, but don't forget about the King of the Valley. If you've got new gear for the Nats, or your not usually a Nitro racer, and just trying it of for what is going to be a super huge event, then this is your chance to get a competitive hit out.

If you don't want to race your Nats buggy, and want to keep it fresh then maybe pick up a Truggy from your dusty back room or off a mate, and come up and give that a go. Once again, it's a good chance to get your eye in, and there is a crown up for grabs!

It's a one day event remember, bump-up finals (practice the day before is optional), so no need to book accommodation. Just drive up for the day and have a race.

Entries officially close one week before the event. So, this Sunday. A final decision on whether to include EP8 will be made then based on the numbers we have. Late entries taken after that will depend on space available and may attract a late fee.

Payments should be made before race day. For people practising on Saturday, then is fine. Otherwise please make a payment by EFT (details in first post), if we have to take payments on the morning of the race we will be slow to start.
