Wanted: Cheap 1/10 Off-road Nitro for friend (Pref HSP)
A friend of mine was playing with my HSP 1/10 Monster Truck, and he said on the spot he wants one.
He wants to do it on the cheap, and so his budget is $150 odd. However with a good deal (ie a moderate amount of spare parts and other gear like tools and glow lighter and such) he can stretch his budget out to $200 or so. I figure since he wants to do it on the cheap the 1/10 scales are the way to go since parts are cheap. I think 1/8 will be a bit expensive for him, but feel free to let me know if you got a 1/8 in the price range.
As far as rules go;
- He wants a nitro, but im trying to convince him to go electric for his level of experience, so let me know if you have either.
- Buggy or Monster Truck are fine. Let me know what you got.
- Must be in great working condition
- Must be RTR (ie full working order)
- My location is Perth 6148 so please let me know how much the postage would be if required
- Prefer a full package with spare parts and running gear like tools and such
nitro, and hsp, is the worst possible combination you could possibly come up with.
if you're getting HSP, get brushless.
To that i will respond with "Horses for courses"
A lot of people hate on the HSP, however i can not fault the brand at all. Yes I would not get a nitro HSP for the intention of racing. However, my friend is a new person to the hobby, and he does not need anything expensive for his needs. He does like the idea of nitro, and the HSP 1/10 nitro monster truck that i use goes great around the park/car park. THe HSP i bought was for a younger relative, who uses the car, and he wastes time fixing the car and doing maintenance. It's great to let friends/family play with knowing that they can't do damage to your race car the day befroe your race. I keep my Hyper 9 for the race track, and when it's not on the track it sits quitely on the table in my room.

I don't think you understand mate. Ammo is known for supporting HSP so when he says something bad about them, there must be something wrong with them. From what I know (yours might not), the HSP nitro motors have trouble holding a tune and are not reliable.
For a newbie, an electric truck would be the way to go. Plus, they can be pretty fast as well. You can get the RTR HSP brushless truck for $150 including postage.
