The RC4 HYBRID transponder is the ONLY type that will work on ALL AMB and Mylaps RC timing systems.

Note that the newer, cheaper Pure RC4 transponder will only work on Mylaps RC4 system and will not work on any other AMB or Mylaps system.

So the RC4 HYBRID is the best one to own.

Thank you for your comment 44014 but it would be more helpful to other racers if you did your research fully and present all the facts.

Let us compare apples to apples...
Amain Hobbies is a big trader in the USA and I am small trader in Australia offering RC4 transponders to Australian buyers on an Australian forum.

Amain Hobbies price is $108USD plus $11USD for their cheapest shipping and delivery estimated at taking two to three weeks. Total $119USD

Currently the conversion of $119USD to AUD is about $120 in Australian Dollars. It could be more depending on your payment method.

So if you order from Amain Hobbies for delivery to Australia the cost would be $120AUD and it could take 3 weeks to get it.
If you ever have the need for a warranty claim you will need to return the transponder to Amain in the USA.
Minimum cost of Registered Mail to USA from Australia is $19.70AUD. Plus the time to get there, be processed and returned.

I'm selling for $110AUD and delivery usually within 7 days. All transponders are fully tested before dispatch and covered by a one year AUSTRALIAN warranty.

Bottom line
Amain Hobbies $120AUD with delivery in 2 to 3 weeks
or
me $115.50AUD with delivery within 7 days, pre tested with 1 year Australian warranty.

BTW the price from Mylaps (the company that makes the RC4) in Australia is $134.57AUD including delivery.

Ok lets look at some real facts ! With the current exchange rate it is $104.53.
There cheapest postage is .69c ..... (Expected delivery mid next week) Bringing the grand total $105.30
...so maybe someone should do there own research before "stating facts"
This is why australian hobby shops are failing !

I suggest you READ the forum rules regarding posting in people's 'for sale' threads

While I'm here, lets clarify some of your points made:

-Your 'calculation' of the exhange rate is incorrect - you're just doing a straight conversion off the currently advertsied 'market' exchange rate, as when someone pays via paypal (or via bank card), you NEVER get the advertised 'actual' present exhange rate, and at the moment, once paypal (or a bank) take their 'exchange rate converison fee' (which they never actually advertise to a user), you're actually getting pretty much dollar-for dollar exchange rate with the US, so there's really negligible savings to be had. Paypal (or a bank) usually take anywhere from 2-3 cents in the conversion. Similar scenario as when you go to a foreign exchange to change denominations.

- You, as an Australian buyer, cannot claim the 69c postage delivery fee (despite A-main actually allowing you to make the option) as this is standard UPS postal ground shipping to US customers ONLY (read the fine print on A-mains site - states that postage option is not guaranteed), and is not for international delivery. The minimum postage to an Australian buyer is actually USD$10.99 via 1st class mail international shipping (not converted to AUD). Choose the 69c option, and A-main will simply sting you for the difference before they ship it out via another invoice. Trust me, I've had this happen from a-main (the one and only time I bought something from them) ....it costs a lot more to ship something like this from o/s.

- Its the negative attitude of people like you as to why Australian businesses are failing. I'll admit I buy my fair share of products overseas when I can't find a comparable product with a competitve price locally, but in this instance, the price is competitve with any othe overseas 'online' offerings, and you get the advantage of warranty back-up from a local business specialising in these products (unlike a generic hobby shop who sells transponders).

Suggest you keep your so-called 'informed' opinions to yourself, and get your 'facts straight' before bombing other people's for sale threads

1. You are kidding yourself if you think you can get that rate. PayPal will take 5c off that for example. Credit cards will charge a forex fee.

2. Read the forum rules - you have no right to call this bloke out on what is a competitive price.

3. If you want to line Amain's pockets, go ahead. Let other racers come to their own conclusions.

Ok well your both wrong . The .69c option is most certainly available.
That price is from amain in the check out..... Soooo do what you like guys im just sick of aus hobby shops lining there pockets.
And I spend about $1000 a month with amain ...i know a little about there shipping charges and the exchange rates ....

That being said, the part in question was not available in this country and the LHS are quoting 3-4 weeks, I need it earlier than that. I still try to shop here when I can, and I do believe for the extra 10 bucks you would save you should buy it here. Only time I look overseas to buy is when I will save hundreds, not a few dollars.

Well, this wasn't the case with me. I purchased a pro-line body shell from them 6 months ago, selected the cheapest 'shipping' option which was $1.38 at the time (as you would do) and got a subsequent paypal invoice for an additional $12 because the shipping option I had selected was not valid for international post.

Only speaking from my experienced from shopping from a-main. Maybe regular buyers (gold account?) get some form of discount?


Regardless, the point is there is no reason to bomb someones thread saying 'i can get it for $xxx elsewhere' when there really isn't any notably huge difference in cost.

Not the first time 44014 has barged in on someone's for sale thread according to his post history arguing that someone can buy it for x amount elsewhere.

Dont know about the history, but I think the price is very fair. I have an issue with Australia Post's pricing, but that is not under the control of the seller.

Hope the sale goes well, I have 3 RC3 transponders so I am sure they will have to be upgraded, hope I can get a price within a few dollars of US pricing then.

Thank you for your support.
You say you have 3 RC3 transponders and I wonder what makes you think they need to be upgraded?

I am guessing you have the old model AMBrc DP that looks like this...


If that is what you mean by RC3 then I think you will find they will still work at all tracks using AMBrc2, AMBrc3, Mylaps RC3 and Mylaps RC4 decoders.

It is only the very new PURE RC4 transponder that will only work on a Mylaps RC4 decoder.

Yep thats them. I know they still are OK to use everywhere, but Mylaps will find a way to exclude them one day, makes good business sense to plan obsolescence into things you make. And they have proved to be very good businessmen, ask all the guys with MRT's.
