Is the Hitec HFS-03MM compatable with the JR R-1 radio in ppm mode?

I'm not sure, but I remember using a Hitec reciever with my old JR XR-3 FM transmitter.

If that JR radio is FM then it will work as long as you use a JR receiver crystal in it.

So in order to use the new Hitec receivers with another brand of transmitter you need to use the transmitter brand crystals?

No. On that particular receiver in order to use it with another brand transmitter you have to use that manufacturers receiver crystal in it.

Other receivers like our 03MK will always use the Hitec crystal in it no matter what brand transmitter it is being used with.
