Looks like ya'll had a blast. I hope to be able to come join in here in the next couple of weeks.
Hey Q, What are the rules on the Slash classes? Is it just gonna be Bone stock, and open mod? And is open mod really open? I have a Slash with MM ESC 5700 motor and 7 cell nimh bateries. Can I run what I brung or are there battery restrictions? Also do I need a transponder? Or can I rent/borrow one? I've never raced so I don't have one yet. Sorry for all the questions, but I really want to come race with you guys. :tire::tire:
For the "Box Stock Spec Class" the only parts (part #'s) that can be changed are the receiver, battery connector, body, pinion gear. All other part #'s must be stock.
The battery can be up to 7 cell nimh or 2 cell lipo. In the "Unlimited Class" you can run anything you want as long as it looks like a Trophy Truck and is electric powered. Yes you will want to pick up a transponder if you can, but the loaners will be availible. The thing is since we will often be running a wet track you must purchase an aditional waterproofing box to put the loaner transponder in and it will be a bit of a pain to deal with. When you have a personal transponder it will fit in your stock reciever box.
Make sure you look back a few posts to see the set-up tips I posted, because you will want to make some changes to get the truck right.
I would like to say that this Asphalt Slash Racing may be one of the most fun things I have tried with a RC anything. This was crazy! The flooded track made it so much better that I ever imagined. I personally would like to run every Slash race with the track flooded. The only drawback would be that there may be racers who would choose not to run if they dont have waterproof electronics. Example, people may want to run T4's or E-Maxx's but they may not have the waterproof electronics. Of course the other side of that is maybe RC Hobbies will get to sell some waterproof electronics or a few more Slashes, but Im still not sure what would be the best way to go. I just know that for people with Slashes and for spectators, having the track flooded is the only way to go.
Would it be a bad move to say "We're gonna run wet track, period, be prepared." ?
Remember how much water it took to try and flood the track when we were cleaning it? On thos 90+ days when the sun is beating down and the asphalt is already 100 degrees + at 8:00 in the morning I'm not sure you'll ever get enough water on the track to make a splash. It was pretty cool though.

I thought about that, but we were trying to wet basically the entire track at one time. Im thinking about just putting a hose or maybe two hoses at one end (probably the south end) to just flood a descent size section.
Ok I got everything yesterday for the Hero cam and messed with it last night and it does show good pic and videos. I will mount it in my truck for Saturdays . We should see some cool footage from the inside of the truck

I retract the statement I made earlier about needing to purchase a waterproofing box for the lap counting transponder. I just spoke with a technician from AMB and he assured me that the transponders are totally waterproof.
So, to use one of the loaner transponders you will just need to drill a hole in your chassis to mount the transponders. Mounting in the body will not be allowed. The hole should be directly across the chassis from the servo and as far forward as possible. This location should provide decent protection from impacts with the asphalt and the jumps.
All the jumps have been finished with the exception of painting them. The track will be open for practice tomorrow and Friday for anyone wanting to try them out. We will be racing on Saturday.
